City in Embers

This book wasn't... bad. It was just alright. It definitely had its high points and held my attention, and it had so much potential, but then there were other points where it felt a little... too ehhh.. even for a romance, which are not known for having the best plots or the most developed of characters. There were definitely some issues, but it was an entertaining read.

The synopsis of this book sounded so intriguing I had to give it a shot. And really, I should have liked it? Perhaps my semi-slump made me more picky than usual because I just couldn't get behind the characters. I would have liked more time to get to know them, yet all I saw I didn't like.
It is always brave of an author to start a book with the MC loving someone else. In this case, I don't think she was giving Zoey enough time to get over Daniel.
There is also confusion and almost none of Zoey's actions were starting to make sense to me. There is this amazing apocalyptic atmosphere going on, but it felt so far removed, which is a bummer.

Maybe I'll try this again in the future when I'm not feeling as picky.
