China's Second Continent

It was inevitable that in its new course, China would turn its eyes to Africa-an entire continent ravaged by wars, corruption, divisions, poverty, disease, warlike colonialism... A world rich in resources and land, ignored by the West, perfect for a country with ambitious expansion aims in great need of land to cultivate and mines to plunder. And, above all, a place to send their many countrymen who can no longer stand the constraints of an overpopulated, polluted and paranoid homeland.
This book-reportage. however, makes one thing clear: the Chinese government is present and fighting with the weapon of financing, with the debt trap, infiltrating its own people at all levels, from daily life, stealing jobs, to local politics, getting rich concessions for a fistful of rice at stratospheric interests, building valuable infrastructure, but without training the locals to manage it.
Africa as a whole is now undergoing a new colonialist era, which may have some more promise for the future, but for now only plays in its own favor...
