Chew, Vol. 2: International Flavor

More of the same! Still fun. More of the overarching plot revealed.

Things I have noticed by the end of Volume 2:

People seem to hate Chu instantly, for no good reason.

There is a sign in the F.D.A.'s car park advising agents not to “choke the chicken” there.

In one panel, the film Mary Poppins plays on a TV in the background.

Chu is a badarse. 

The ending of Chapter 4 had me gagged but makes sense. 

Humans will eat a lot of gross shit in pursuit of animal flesh rather than just being happy eating a vegetable.

There's an RG+AH written in a heart on page 22 which I am assuming was a tribute from Rob Guillory to his wife, Alice Guillory, his then girlfriend. 

There is a Wanted poster for John Layman somewhere.

Brooks was here, Red was here too is written on a wall in prison. A shout-out to the Stephen King book and film Shawshank Redemption. 

Guillory was committed to a mental asylum while his sanity was in question.

Agent Chu is reunited with John Colby, his former partner in the Philly PD. Now Agent Colby is working for the FDA with a bionic head. He hasn't changed much and he adds a lovely layer of ass kicking humor to the book.

Chu is on the hunt for this fruit that tastes like chicken. On a lead to the whereabouts of this fruit he runs into his brother who is opening a restaurant on the little island where the laws on poultry are much more relaxed.

Rumors of vampires start circulating when a body from the first book makes an appearance and Mason is still hiding out somewhere.

Not as funny or as gross as the first book, but it's still very entertaining.
