I'm an Alistair Reynolds fan but I had some issues with this one. Without any spoilers, it's a bit of a mashup between sci-fi space travel and an alternate history 1950s Paris. The overall concept was excellent, the Paris bit was good, but the space part not so much. Also there was an attempted romance which didn't feel very convincing.

Awesome!
besides the love story, which was far fetched, it was awesome. I wished there was a part 2 to explore the world further.
This is the second Alastair Reynolds book I have read and totally different than House of Suns. However, I still greatly enjoyed it as it had a different take on the time travel/alt history trope than I'm used to. I plan on picking up more of the Author's works in the future as its all been great scifi for me!
Great sci-fi. World building, conflicts and characters were fantastic (besides the name of the main character). My main concern is mostly about the silver rain. I think I didn't grasp what really was it and the culminating scene with it was somehow weird and uninspiring, although there were a lot of struggles to get there.
Well, I finally finished this on the second attempt. Not sure what originally put me off, but eventually I enjoyed the story. Don't think it's one of Reynold's best books, but, hey, it was OK.
