Finished this in two days. While I do find the crux of the story engaging and an enjoyable change of pace for Connelly the rather lazy romance in this novel let's it down quite a bit. One of Connelly's weaker works I've read so far that's for sure.
I really enjoyed this book. The main problem I had with was the love interest lacking depth. I know its not a romance novel, I just wanted the character to actually feel like a person. Instead it just felt she was there to move the plot along sometimes. Otherwise a fun book with decent twists,
My complaint about Connelly's detectives: their horrible taste in women. It's distracting. McCaleb or Bosch falls completely for a needy/pushy/damaged/mentally ill/selfish/fill-in-the-blank woman, and I, as the reader, am distracted from the actual mystery at hand by my thoughts of why? and don't let her do that to you!
