Though I still enjoyed this installment, it is where things (I think) started to fall apart in the series. I still wanted to follow the characters I had liked so much in the first 2 books, but small hints of the downward spiral in the story start to be seen.

Surprise through and through. I love how Goodkind keeps it interesting. The characters are engaging and different. The world is believable but mysterious. A bit more exposition than I wanted, but most of the plot is driven by action.

Starts off really slow. I had to fight through the first half, unlike the first two in the series. It picked up toward the end, but just in general didn't have the same magic as the others. Maybe instead of what it was, it should have been a 100% Gratch centered book.
