Bless Me, Ultima

Interesting, with some really unique and endearing characters. I feel like there was more room for exploration of faith and it didn't get fully resolved. Additionally, it was odd how different Antonio was from the other kids his age - he is a fully developed and insightful character, while they feel like caricatures and seem to have the intelligence of toddlers.

an exploration of the mythical/ spiritual interaction in a young boy's life. Pagan and catholic rituals, death, growth, and evil occur as he tried to find his way between his parents dreams and his own understanding if the world.

The atmosphere of the book and description of place is lovely, I really enjoy that aspect of it. The plot was a bit of a snooze for me. Maybe I'm too old for a bildungsroman, particularly one about a young boy that focuses around religious questions.
