This was the book I never knew I needed in my life. After reading “Escaping from Houdini” my heart was broken and I was left with such an empty feeling. But then I found out about this novella and I knew I had to read it and I am so glad I did.
This is absolutely great. It's a short novella from Thomas Cresswell's point of view (that's enough to make you want to read it!) focusing on the events at the end of the third book of the series, after Audrey Rose is hurt by the killer.
These short, but amazing pages made me laugh so hard that tears were pouring down my face and they made me so happy that I forgot all the hurt that the previous book caused me. I absolutely loved it and I am so glad that Thomas and Audrey Rose are all right and that their relationship wasn't destroyed because of Mephistopheles.
This book was a joy to read after dealing with the gruelling part/side of Escaping From Houdini. Having Thomas' pov is a good way of learning more about him, especially with having Audrey Rose's pov for the first 3 books. This book was refreshing and preferable as a secondary joint of the series. I definitely recommend reading this alongside the main series.
You all know my obsession with this series. This novella takes places toward the end of Escaping from Houdini so we get to reread some things that happened in Thomas' point of view instead of Audrey's and then we get a taste for what's to come in the final book.
Escaping from Houdini was my least favorite book in this series even though I still gave it 5 stars so I was a little worried about how I was going to feel about reading the same thing from a different POV.
Well I loved it. Getting Thomas' POV was heartbreaking. His love for Audrey is so palpable and flies off the pages and getting a front row seat to Thomas' thoughts and how hurt he was hurt me. Ok sorry guys I just love Thomas Cresswell and I want him to be happy.
I'm going to stop here because I'm just going to continue to gush over Thomas and talk about how much I love him. I definitely recommend you read this novella but definitely read Escaping from Houdini first because you will get spoiled.
