Started out fantastic, I love the way he uses his words, and his descriptions are wonderful. However, the story started to drag on about halfway through the book, and I felt like the story was going nowhere. I will look into more of his books, because I like his writing style!
Started well, but lost some focus in second half. There were a few things that I didn't love, particularly how the thread dealing with the Holocaust seemed unnecessary and almost irrelevant, but the main story is compelling and enjoyable. This was my first Conroy book, but I don't think it will be my last.
