In the year 3000, there are no countries, no cities. Earth is an empty wasteland. In eight domed mining installations scattered across the globe, vicious Psychlo aliens grind out the mineral resources of the planet whose population they utterly destroyed a millennium ago. The scant few remnants of humanity hide in village and remote areas, an endangered species on the brink of extinction. Apathy and superstition have suppressed all hope when one man, Jonnie Goodboy Tyler, dares to leave his village in search of a better life. Against all odds he marshalls the last survivors to join him in a desperate attempt to drive the alien Psychlos from this world before man is lost forever.

If this book was 300 pages shorter I could've easily given it two stars. It's not well written, but it does have exciting moments and an interesting plot. These redeemable qualities could've carried my rating to two stars if the book wasn't exhaustively long and bloated. I do not recommend spending your time in this one.
Definitely one of the best science-fiction books ever written, probably top 15. The writing is solid and the story is sufficiently complex. The only thing really wrong with the book is the spelling and possibly grammar. I don't know Scientology well enough to pick up the themes throughout the book, but they certainly didn't diminish the book's worth.
Sadly, this seems to be the only novel by this author, which is really a shame.
