I wanted to read this, or listen, actually, and I think I ended up getting an abridged version through the library by accident. Still, I'm glad to have spent some time with this classic. I was inspired because Jane Adams loved Tolstoy!

DNF 298. The first 200 pages were pretty good but then it turned to something so boring to me. I'm sure it ends up being good but I'd rather go on to something that will be much better

Didn't finish the last 1/4 of the book. Got a little bored. Loved the first half.

I cannot put half stars so imagine a 4.5
But Tolstoi writes the way I think all the authors should write, encapsulates the simple and the complex. A story about how only men are allowed to love and suffer, a transitory peace.

A beautiful gripping tale of how hypocrisy and dishonesty affects everyone tangentially touched by it, and also one weirdo's philosophical ramblings.
