I love authors that invest time in creating interesting, intriguing and unique characters. I enjoy reading a book in which the relationships between the characters are well developed and it's not all just about the action. ALICE AND THE FLY is one of these books - James Rice did an excellent job at painting, with words, the portrait of a dysfunctional family typology, combining drama with moments of humour. While the book catches the reality of mental illness and the relationship between that and the environment of childhood and family, it also brings up questions about life, authenticity and love.
