If I was irritated at Roan in the first book, I'm a bit more vexed with him for not understanding Cassandra's determination to save her best friend. Cassandra told him he should understand because he'd did the same with his best friend. But no, he wouldn't understand. He wouldn't understand because unlike Cassandra, Elrene was taken for her own actions, he knew where she was being kept, and he knew what she could possibly be enduring. Cassandra knew Scarlet was most likely taken because of her and not because of Scarlet's job. She's desperate because she know shit about where she could be so zero possibility of sneaking in and rescuing her like they did with Elrene. And most of all, she knew nothing about what the abductors could be doing to her best friend. The fear of the unknown is possibly the greatest fear of all. Not knowing if she's even alive in every hour that passes by was enough to make her do anything.
And even if he did finally fall into the very same situation as Cassandra's, he still didn't understand her because unlike him, Cassandra can't exactly rely on anyone anymore. She was almost completely isolated from her previous allies, not to mention that she's still on the run from not one but two entities/groups. Fucker needs to lay off of her and get some serious therapy cause wtf dude.
