So, there's nothing exactly wrong with this book, I just know what I like well enough to know that this isn't it.

The style of writing and the book itself reminds me strongly of Ally Carter's books (specifically the Gallagher Girls series). Only with a vaguely historical setting.

I don't feel anything for Mary, though it would have been nice to see her training because, somehow, after just one month of training, she's ready to be set loose on a mission. A mission that I already suspect she messes up because she refuses to follow her orders.

The love interest - because, seriously, even after just the first meeting, you know where that is headed - is an arrogant jerk. Which I do not find endearing.

Any one of these would have caused me to struggle with the story, all of them combined and I know I'm better off with something else.
