A Royal Masquerade piggybacks off of the Cinderella retelling, The Reluctant Godfather, with the same characters, however this time, we read a new take on The Goose Girl, a bit of a lesser known fairy tale. This novella can be read as a standalone though I recommend reading both.
Burndee and Prince Colin are easily one of my favorite literary duos! They are so entertaining and I love their silly adventures!
In this story, I felt like both characters really came to life and some parts of their personalities really improved from the first book. I can't say much about the story for fear of spoilers, but I will say that it is a well done, and unique, retelling of The Goose Girl.
There are only a few mentions of kissing, however the book is completely void of crude and profane language and sexual content. It does have some very mild fight scenes.
Overall, I enjoyed A Royal Masquerade just as much, if not more, than The Reluctant Godfather and certainly recommend both! I give it 5 out of 5 stars!

What an absolute hoot this is! What important role will a certain skunk play in a royal wedding? How will Burndee deal with what happens when his temper goes awry on a most important day?
I laughed myself silly over this humorous retelling story and my biggest question is how Alli manages to come up with this stuff...it was just so funny and so unexpected! I think I like it even a bit better than “The Reluctant Godfather” and I really can't wait for the next book in the series. This one's beautifully written and so brilliantly put together. If you like humor, retellings, or anything remotely like those, be sure to grab a copy of this one to read!
