I wasn't sure if I wanted to read this book. The tiger warnings were honestly what held be back from reading it. But then I read a review here, on Goodreads, that related the MC to a female Captain America. That review intrigued me enough to pick the book up. I am glad I did.
This book isn't as dark as the synopsis implies. I have read some very dark books and honestly this book wouldn't make that list. Yes, abuse and violence is involved, rape is implied, but the author doesn't make you live through it with the MC. It's in her past. I am not saying that the trigger warnings shouldn't be there. But I am saying it was no were close to the level that was suggested.
The MC was a strong female that has lived through shit and yet keeps moving forward. Now I would not compare her to Captain America but Bucky. She has a dark past that she did not have much of a say in. Now she has to live with what she has done and fight with her own moral compass.
The Reverse Harm, Ms. Banet did a great job creating these guys. They each have their own personalities, histories, opinions, and temperaments. I didn't find myself confused between who looked like what or getting irritated with only seeing 2 personalities between 5 different people. Quinn was my favorite but there is no surprise in that.
Over all this book was great I will be continuing this series. I can't wait to see the relationships grow and see Sawyer start her new life.
An interesting start. I like the different types of magic and how it is used.
Definitely a slower burn for an RH. I'm really enjoying how Sawyer can hold her own with the guys.
