A Heart's Promise

I received this book from the author/publisher for the purpose of this review. All comments and opinions are entirely my own.

As I've stated in the last couple reviews for this novalla series, I have grown weary of the characters as well as the setting. With A Heart's Promise being book 5 out of 6, I am sad to say that I am extremely ready for the series to be finished with and will probably have to force myself to finish book 6 as I have zero interest in it. I hate that I feel this way about these books because I know that it was Colleen's first series and that it is more than likely very dear to her heart but I just can't get into them. I still love Collee's writing and the covers here are gorgeous, but when it comes to the plot and characters, I would prefer to stay with her newer books.

Again, the synopsis on this book's page and on the back cover are, respectively, erroneous and spoiler-y. Emmie's pregnancy is not a secret from anyone, but the circumstances of her widowhood are.

It's rather awkward to think of being chosen by a wife to be her replacement, isn't it? That's the crux of this novella...is Emmie going to have to fulfil that unlikely promise?
