A Heart's Obsession

I received this book from the author/publisher for the purpose of this review. All comments and opinions are entirely my own.

A Heart's Obsession is book two in the Journey of the Heart series by Colleen Coble (the very first series that she ever wrote) and I have really enjoyed the novella installments each month! A Heart's Obsession picks up a few months later than where A Heart's Disguise left off and was just as well written and engaging as the first book. It was nice to get to know the characters a little more and the story was well put together in addition to having a decent amount of intensity for a novella so I was overall pleased with this book.

I do have to point out that one of the characters tends to get physically violent towards the middle of the book and though I would not call the scenes that he is in “graphic”, they are written incredibly well and capture the emotion of the scene stupendously for a novella. This was a great little read and I look forward to reading book 3 next month! I rate it 4 out 5 stars and recommend it to anyone who enjoys novellas and historical fiction.

I picked this up at the bookstore and read a little. Despite there being a lot of missing pieces from the first book not being in stock, it gripped me pretty quickly, and I read the whole thing standing there (I'm really good at not leaving any mark on books or bending spines!). I would certainly recommend that these be read in order, and also that you have book three before you read this book! It ends on a massive cliffhanger. I'll definitely be buying this series as I can find it.
