A solid follow-up. Think I will wait a bit to read 3 and 4. This one was bleaker. The end gave me a little bit of the ick. I find middle books are often the weakest link in a series, so it won't deter me from reading the next one(s).
从时间顺序来说，这是第一部的前传。
前半部份是亮色调的，人物语言幽默，感觉和第一部风格迥异。后半部份，诅咒和坏警察（第一部也有坏警察）粉墨登场，明显转为暗色调。和第一部的相似之处是，都讲述主角因为遗忘书之墓的一本书陷入和往事相似的诅咒漩涡，逃出诅咒的过程。这部不少尚未有答案的谜团指向了下一部作品。
没想到，伊莎贝拉还是和森贝雷在结婚了，有点可惜。戴维居然和小时候的克莉丝汀娜相遇（并不是很喜欢这个角色，总是伤了戴维的心），实在太有奇幻色彩了，还是说只是作者的浪漫化处理方式，只是一个非常相似的小女孩名字也恰好相同？
I think I enjoyed this more than Shadow Of The Wind, probably because of its darker edge. I love a bit of ambiguity but I did feel there was so much going on, particularly at the end, that I felt I missed something and so much was left un-answered. I mean who or what was AC? Is David now a vampire or other creature? Where did the child at the end come from? Saying all that, reading this book was a pleasure, heavy on atmosphere and fluffy of word. Will definitely read the next one where I expect all the questions left in this book to be answered... but I bet they won't be.
2.5 stars. I wasn't a massive fan of the first book in the series, but liked this one even less. The story itself is intriguing, but there are multiple ick factors that turned me off (the ending to say the least - yuck!) The female characters are very one dimensional and I didn't like any of them save for Isabella.
I will not continue with this series.
A luxurious start, and luscious middle, and a less-than-satisfying end. Whilst it did tie in loose ends in accordance to ‘Shadow with the Wind,' I found myself not quite comprehending what had just happened overall in relation to the particular plot-line. Certain characters, as in the main ‘antagonist', should have received more ‘read-time', in my opinion. But still, well-crafted, and very much visually stimulating; and the ‘mystery' part of it delivered quite well.
Wow! Estoy muy confundida. No sé si amo este libro por toda la historia de David Martín o si lo detesto porque el final me dejó impresionada y con muchas dudas al aire. Supongo que esperaba el típico final feliz porque David sufrido mucho durante toda la historia, pero debo admitir que disfruté y me encantó la narrativa. Espero que el siguiente sea mucho mejor que este.
Après avoir dévoré et adoré “L'ombre du vent” de Carlos Ruiz Zafon, je me suis plongé dans “Le jeu de l'ange” du même auteur.
Dès les premières chapitres, je n'étais pas perdu : j'ai retrouvé l'univers si particulier de l'auteur espagnol, mêlant des personnages passionnés de littérature, des histoires d'amour, une bonne dose d'enquête policière, et un soupçon de fantastique.
Malheureusement, le résultat est moins exaltant et enthousiasmant que dans “L'ombre du vent”. Sans doute parce que celui-ci ressemble trop au précédent mais n'arrive jamais à l'égaler. J'ai eu l'impression que l'auteur s'était contenté de réutiliser les mêmes recettes mais sans rien apporter de vraiment nouveau. Il va même jusqu'à réutiliser des personnages de “L'ombre du vent” : ça commence comme un clin d'oeil sympathique, mais cela finit comme une tentative un peu désespérée de se raccrocher au succès - mérité - de son chef d'oeuvre.
Malgré tout, ce roman se laisse lire. Le suspense est bien présent et même si j'ai jamais vraiment réussi à me passionner pour les aventures et le destin du narrateur, j'ai lu sans peine les six cent pages du récit.
Il gioco dell'angelo avvince e ti tiene con il fiato sospeso. Punto. Basterebbero questa breve descrizione a rendere perfettamente l'idea di questa storia.
La narrazione ti prende praticamente da subito e ti conduce nella città misteriosa di Barcellona al fianco del protagonista: figura dipinta in maniera eccelsa e straordinariamente viva. Anche l'antagonista di questa storia è caraterrizzato da un senso del mistero che esce dalle pagine per ammaliarti come una spira di fumo che avvolgendoti ti conduce direttamente nelle pagine del libro.
Davvero molti gli spunti di riflessione e le ideologie eofferte nelle varie discussioni sulla religione tra i due personaggi principali. Volendo fare un appunto e lo faccio (non dando così la quinta stellina) trovo forse che i riferimenti all'opera precedente (la libreria e il cimitero dei libri dimenticati) sembrano essere stati messi ad arte per emettere un canto delle sirene ai lettori del libro precedente in quanto probabilmente superflui perchè la storia sembra filare già di per se; trovo anche il finale non all'altezza e sottotono rispetto alla trama magistralmente intrecciata.
Una scrittura molto profonda, coinvolgente, tratteggiata e descrittiva, con splendidi passaggi e metafore da annotare man mano che si procede nella lettura che non risultano appesantire la fluidità della storia.
Attendo con ansia la terza prova di questo scrittore, per capire se entrerà a far parte della mia personale classifica dei miei autori preferiti.
