this is hilarious. the friendship between franky and anya is too cute. and twilight taking yor out on a date <333
This is the book that awakened the reader in me once more. I absolutely devoured, cried, sobbed and frowned with this book but I absolutely loved it too. It's my favorite classic, it is also my only read Kafka book and I have a feeling it will stay that way.
I still think about this book more often than not.
Loved their friendship. Great first sex. I dont feel the same vibes in the second book anymore so might drop it.
was given a free copy by the author upon signing up for her newsletter
I really loved her sports romance books, hence, i wanted to see how she did small town but even tho it was a light and sometimes nice read, it was not my cup of tea. I did not like the age gap that was shown of 9 years. but as tho it was not enough, there was cheating? I dont care how terrible her husband to be was, or how he didnt love her, cheating IS cheating.
Disappointed.
to be honest, this one dimmed my love and excitement for this series because how much it dragged on. how i had to read 800? pages just to get that ending. i understand it, i get why rin did it, but i think it wasnt fair. it wasnt fair to kitay, it wasnt fair to herself.
there was so little nezha, unlike in the first two books, and the yearning we were given. i understand that this series is basically about war, but i also wanted to read about war more from nezha's side and him being around rin more?
also, the hype surrounding the trifecta and suddenly they just die? like that? there is no fight? riga is supposed to be this big bad wold and rin just kills him? what the fuck was all that for?
i did love the moments when venka, rin and kitay plotted together. i loved their friendship. even in the second book, with nezha around.
for some reason, i was heavily attracted to jiang in this one. him using words of endearment like darling and dear for daji made me quiver and melt?!?! idk why the fuck was that happening
when jiang and rin meet each other for the first time since he locked himseld up
when he comes between riga and rin to prevent riga from killing rin
when she builds a grave-like stone whatever in memory of jiang but also calls him a coward
when nezha tells kitay that he knows rin is not dead...
i didnt tear up like i thought i would, but thats fine. reading jade legacy after this did it for me

The writing was dull, boring and lazy. I understand they are practically synonyms of each other but the extensive greek mythology and words was a piece of work, the killer was kind of predictable if you pay attention closely from the start (i suspected the killer is an accomplice of some sort already when introduced) and spoiler the relationship between sebastian and zoe, god that disgusted me and was completely unnecessary making this whole book useless and waste of breath. I liked his other book, the silent patient, a lot more because it was gripping and made my spine chill. This one felt too obvious that it was written by man.
kind of sort of disappointed with the reveal of the murderer. i had hoped it would be nate because stevie never suspected nate and i had hoped he would have had a motive or so. also i thought ellie was francis' daughter or granddaughter or something? I had hoped it would be clarified if so considering francis went to france and ellie lived in commune in france. anyway, regardless enjoyed this book.

It was a different kind of romance, sort of unexpected but intriguing. I liked the way they tried to change objectification of women and how clara owned up who she wanted to be. The book in a way was enlightening but also lighthearted. I liked it. However, it was not good enough to earn 5 stars.
honestly, i had no idea what this book was about when i first picked it up but dear God, it was disgusting, terrible and downright cringeworthy but in a good way. like i hated it, but because of what the story implied. the ending was unsatisfactory though. perhaps the author wanted to make it realistic as possible but this was work of fiction, she could have given us some justice, she could have given vanessa some justice. what was the point of having him kill himself and escape all the punishment he deserved.

call me by your name was not enough, the author decided that he needs to extend the age gap so he formed a relationship between a professor of the age 60+ and a 20 year old something. something tells me the character was based off on the author himself. the story made 0 sense to me, she meets him on the train, have this deep philosophical nonsense conversation and then decided to abandon her sick father to go with a complete stranger?
i had pizza while reading this and now I'm feeling acidic because of the marinara sauce
a 3.5/5
even though it started out well, the writing was pretty smooth and easy to get through. at times it was dull and even though the MC was kind of boring, I still wanted to know everything about her. I think this book was written well surrounding the teenage pregnancy, but also about how when everything is going well around you, you never feel grateful enough to appreciate it. her mom and billy were supportive and were there for her, but she wasn't within herself. you can tell for the most part that she was detached from her real self but it was not her fault. i don't have much to say about this book, because while I had slight fun, it kind of confused me as well. was the MC bi? or was she simply obsessed for a while? did she need a distraction from her reality? the fact that she was pregnant and had nothing going on in her life? maybe she was still grieving and while she was trying her utmost best to not be her father, the fear of becoming like him drove her into him exactly. i think the author did a good job highlighting the topic surrounding daughters' fear of becoming like their negligent/abusive fathers.

This book is downright comical, in sense that it is unrealistically cringey (?) but i had fun so my rating is high. It wasn't all that bad but if you want to read a fictional man who does bare minimum then this is the book for you sigh
it is hard to articulate my exact thoughts and feelings about this book because its very difficult to talk about a book i have loved. i think the author did an outstanding job with depicting how white people think they are helping but are simply being selfish. when the author showed moments like the supermarket scene and how a white guy was encouraging that she post it online, or how the white employer was wondering how to approach her sitter. i couldn't figure out who was worst between alix and kelley, but as it turns out it is both of them.
my utmost favorite character was of course briar and i loved the parts she was in and her relationship with emira <3
i was kind of weary going into this because i didn't think i'd like it but i am glad that i did because i had fun
“I love her so much that I want to turn to cannibalism because I want to eat this precious baby for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.”
this is a line in this book.
Not my cup of tea but it was easy to read, i wouldnt even know it but i would have read 20 pages. One thing i want to note is that i am fucking scared of having kids now more than ever because how will i control who my 13 year old kid befriends at the time : Also TW: animal abuse.
I just know that if Jude and Willem from a little life had a normal life then this would be them. Charlie being jude and willem being nick
the title and the summary were not exactly an indication for the plot itself. I was confused about where is the “lie” considering she just conceals her real identity rather than anything else

Was going so well until kristen wouldn't just stop acting immature and have the conversation with josh and then when she finally does, she's made the decision that they cant be together. I had high hopes for this because my last abby jimminez book was a 5 star but extremely disappointed. The banter and the chemistry was great between the mcs but the lack of proper communication really put me off
