I UGLY sobbed while reading the last half of this book, and it was almost 5/5 for me.
The writing in the beginning felt a little bit rushed and I had a hard time getting into it, but once we got to the “present time” it picked up and grasped my attention a lot faster. The writing did feel cliche a lot of the times, but honestly in the best way. Sometimes we need a little cliche.
Great representation of lgbtq, and it discusses difficult topics like coming to terms so rn your sexuality, and coping with trauma. It might be difficult for some to read.
I enjoyed this book like I enjoy a cheesy romance movie.
Almost 5 ⭐️. I really loved everything about this book. I think it was written very well. I love their relationship. I'm so glad there was never any miscommunication drama or silly breakup drama either. And while I wouldn't describe this book as wholesome (indecent, impure for sure but not wholesome lol) I think their love for each other truly is wholesome. 100% worth the read and 100% will reread in the future
Read in one sitting because I was obsessed
I ugly cried basically the entire time I read this book- and I did read it in a single day/sitting. This may be my favorite in the series

Pretty good. Not super loving the NOT communicating bc that's just one notch below miscommunication and I hate that trope, but it isn't as bad so I'll let it slide lol.
I think Billie is a little silly but she got better as the book went on (for the most part).

❤️the writing style took me a couple chapters to really get into, but after I got used to it I was hooked
❤️I greatly dislike how everyone treats Poppy as an object rather than a person. It makes me not feel as bad for those who did die even though they were still her friends (bc even though they cared for her, they still thought of her as a thing)
❤️immediately bought the next book as soon as I finished :)
I read this around my coworkers- I am immune to fear now
Straight porn with plot, like maybe 8% plot (honestly that's being quite kind- it's probably like...3% plot...BUT ITS GOOD. If you know you know, you know :) ;)
❤️So right off the bat, I didn't think I would like this book at all. I HATE fantasy, so I put this book off for literal years because I assumed I wouldn't like it...So anyways this is my new favorite book! And I almost started reading the next book as soon as I finished but alas, it was 2 am on a weeknight.
❤️Overall I really enjoyed the story. About three quarters of the way through the pacing felt like it slowed down for a little bit- I think it kind of dragged for about 50 pages but it wasn't that bad! It was easy to push through and finish, especially because the rest of the book is paced really well.
❤️The story never felt overly predictable (for me at least!). I kept making guesses (genuine guesses!) while reading and I'm pretty sure all of them were wrong!

This earns a spot in my “lost sleep over”/“finished at 4 am” list. Oh my GOD this book was so good!
In the beginning I was unsure if I was going to like it. Styx's POV took a second to get used to reading- but I ended up really enjoying how his pov was written. It really helped get into his characters mind.
I really liked that while Mae was uneducated in many aspects of the outside world, she always felt like a capable adult. Never did she feel childlike, and I was never uncomfortable with any dynamics between her and other characters. I think Mae was a very well written “innocent” character- and she had incredible growth through the story.
And ummmm ???? I cannot wait to read book two!!
