This book was pretty good, I really enjoyed the story. I gotta say, I hated Posy at first. She was so annoying and I got mad every time she appeared on page and I just didn't want her there, but I warmed up to her by the end of the book, she is not that bad.
I liked watching Este and Mateo fall in love and go through so many things together, I loved the whole academia vibe and the fact that it's the kind of book that will make you want to turn page after page.
I loved this book so much! Now I truly understand the hype around it - it definitely deserves it! Such a beautiful, heartwarming story that everyone needs to read. And the smut is great as well ;)
What a beautiful book! This book is magical, full of meaning and it really touched me. You all need to read it!!!
I really hope that Eadlyn will choose Kile, because he's the one I like the most. And it would be sooo cute if they were together given the fact that they grew up together and never got the chance to discover each other.
Maybe it just wasn't the right time for this book, but I couldn't concentrate on the story, I felt very detached and just didn't feel like I enjoyed it that much.
DNF - I just can't seem to be able to read it, even if I actually like the plot and the writing style. I will come back to it at some point and give it another chance.
About the book
Following the story of Mia Corvere, the third and last book in the “Nevernight Chronicle” series, Darkdawn is a masterpiece that shows us how much Mia grows and how strong she is. After trying to kill the man she hates the most, Julius Scaeva, Mia is the most wanted killer in the Republic. On the run, followed by her friends who love and appreciate her, Mia tries to uncover the truth about what's really going on in her life. But the question is: can Mia survive in a world where even daylight must die?
Plot
There are so many things happening in this book, but keeping it spoiler-free I can say that it will keep you hooked and wanting to read more and more and see: will Mia survive the terros that lie ahead of her? Will Jonnen, her small brother, come to love her as she loves him? Will Mia ever forgive Ashlinn for killing her beloved, Tric?
Characters
Mia is strong. She is fierce, she does reckless things and she never gives up. She's such an inspiring character. I loved her evolution and her development, the ways she handled all the awful things that kept happening in this book. She's been hurt so much, but still she STANDS.
I couldn't like Ashlinn. I just hated her for killing Tric and I couldn't get over it, because even if she comes to love Mia so much, she still hurt her at the beginning, because she knew how much Tric meant to Mia and she still chose to kill him. I understand that she was somehow very similar to Mia, both girls doing whatever it takes to achieve their goals. When Tric forgave her for killing him, I started liking her a little bit more, but I couldn't love her or be very enthusiast about her relationship with Mia.
Tric was my favourite character, besides Mia, because he loved her SO MUCH and he sacrificed everything he had for her, even thoug he was supposed to be a heartless assassin. When he told her how much he loved her, I cried so hard and I was feeling really emotional. Damn you, Jay Kristoff, for doing this to me.
Final thoughts
This book was purely amazing. I am so happy I decided to dive into this series, because Mia Corvere has become one of my all-time favourite characters.
If you liked Jay's work with Amie Kaufman (The Illuminae Files, Aurora Cycle) you'll absolutely love this masterpiece.
I am so glad I got the chance to read this book as an eARC, I absolutely loved it! It's a small town romance between two very different people that at first think they aren't a match. It's a story that will melt your heart for sure! I love Amy's writing and how she managed to make me fall in love with the characters.
I absolutely LOVED this!! Such a great book and with an amazing writing style. The author knows how to keep you wanting more and to make you turn page after page until you realize you've finished the book.
Lara is amazing and I love her personality, I love the fact that she is strong and she knows it, she believes in herself and does not let anyone and anything bring her down. She fights for herself and for her people.
Aren is said to be a demon, but we discover his true personality throughout this book and, of course, we fall in love with him.
Such an amazing enemies to lovers story, a slow burn romance perfect for anyone who is a fan of these tropes. I am excited to read the next book, because this one has a huge cliffhanger SO PREPARE YOURSELVES!
3.5 stars
I liked it, but I felt that it was so hard to concentrate on the story at some points, I had no idea what was going on and there was so much stuff being talked about. The book is not bad, but it's just not for me.
Of course I absolutely loved this book, it's Cassie Clare who wrote it, one of my favorite authors. I had very high expectations for this book and it did not disappoint! It was so good - I loved everything from the characters to the world building (even though I had a hard time at first understanding everything that was going on in Castellane and the magic system and... everything basically)
I rarely read non-fiction (almost.. never), but this book surprised me! It was really funny and I had a good time reading it.
It's written from the point of view of an airport bartender and he's telling stories about the people he encountered while working there. Lots and lots of funny stories that made me laugh so hard. I couldn't believe the number of stories about people who felt so entitled, I literally wanted to enter the book and smack them.
WHAT A BOOK!
I've read King of Scars last year and the ending left me speechless, so reading this book felt like fresh air for me. I loved going back to the Grishaverse and reading about Nikolai and everyone else again, the story flows beautifully in Leigh's usual style: she keeps us alert, she doesn't let us relax. If you start this book, you're going to want to finish it ASAP. I didn't have the time to read it in one sitting, it took me such a long time to finish it, but I loved it nonetheless.
I won't say much about this because I want to avoid spoilers, just know that it is an amazing book and it definitely deserves 5 stars!
History, huh?
WHY did it take me so long to finally read this book.. I have no idea. But apparently this is my 500th read book (at least here on Goodreads) and I feel like it's a perfect one for that milestone.
I loved it. I loved it from the first page, when I did not even know what to expect. I heard the book was good, but I was so surprised to see HOW GOOD IT IS. The characters are just loveable. You can't help falling in love with them while reading this book, they're so amazing and each is special in their own way.
My favorite character is definitely Alex. He is so funny and I loved reading about him and his thoughts, his fears and his dreams. Of course I love Henry just as much, but there's a part of me that just likes Alex a LITTLE bit more.
But THEM? ALEX AND HENRY together? That's just perfect. What an amazing couple, I loved following their story, watching them go from “enemies” to “lovers”. Their story is so beautiful, it made me cry so much, it made me laugh and it made me want to throw the book across the room and then it made me just want to hug these characters.
Love love love the book!!
This was a really nice and quick read, I finished it in 2 days. I loved the idea of Misha and Ryen going from childhood friends to something more, even though their journey was a rough and bumpy one.
At first I didn't like Ryen at all. She was mean, she was that typical “popular cheerleader” girl, but she was faking it in order to fit in with the other mean kids at her school. I was so glad that she realized how wrong she was and that she woke up from that nightmare.
I reeeally liked this book. Laura Thalassa has this way of making you fall in love with her characters even when you don't want to. I mean, Pestilence is one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and he's come to kill humans, because they failed to take care of their planet and they're just... awful (not far from what's actually happening in the world right now, right?). I didn't want to like him, he was killing innocent people and he was just awful in the beginning. But well, I was surprised to discover that I ended up falling in love with him.
Sara Burns is a firefighter who happens to have to stay behind and try to kill the horseman. It's her duty and she is willing to die for it in order to help the world and get rid of Pestilence. What she doesn't know is: he is immortal and cannot be killed. Pestilence gets his revenge by taking Sara as his prisoner and forcing her through pain unknown to her before she met him. She doesn't give up on trying to make him change his mind, trying to make him stop killing everyone he encounters.
I really loved Sara and Pestilence, their banter was so fun to read and I laughed until I cried at some points in this book, Laura has a great way of creating funny situations.
This was a very nice book and I'm glad I picked it up, I recommend it to anyone who wants a fun read.
OMG, I loved it so, so much. I knew I was going to love it because I've already read the Caraval series and it's one of my favorites and I know how beautiful and magical Stephanie Garber's writing style is. I was so excited to get to know Jacks better.
This book left me wanting more and I can't wait for the next one, I bet it's going to be even better than this one!
Following the story of Poppy and Hawke (wink, wink), this book never ceased to amaze me. From chapter to chapter it got better and better. I absolutely loved it, much more than I loved the first book. I've grown attached to Poppy and Hawke, even Kieran.
I adore the plot and the world building, the magic system is incredible and everything Jennifer has done with this book is purely amazing! The ending left me speechless, I wanted to throw my e-reader across the room. What was that? Why would she leave us like that, wanting more and MORE?
I cannot wait for the next book, but April is so far away and ughhhhhh!
This was such a great read, especially for a debut novel! Ana's book will take you to a world full of magic, with gorgeous descriptions and amazing characters. I enjoyed it a lot and THAT ENDING!!!! left me wanting more. I know this book is not even out yet, but when is the next one coming out??
Wow. This book left me speechless. It took me so long to finish this book because I just didn't want to finish it, I didn't want it to end. IT WAS SO GOOD . If you love vicious Fae that are actually soft inside, you need to check it out.
Lark, the main character, is a sassy little one. She knows what she's capable of and she's not afraid to stand up for what she believes in. She is strong, she has a soft spot for animals and she would do anything to save them from poachers. That's how the story starts, after Lark invites a poacher to her bed and she finds out the truth about him the next day. She and her 2 amazing sisters, Juniper and Cove, get in trouble with a band of poachers and they are being chased straight into the world of the Fae, where humans do not enter.
There has been a War between humans and Fae, because of the differences between them: the humas thought that the Fae were too vicious because of their magic, the Fae thought that humans had no respect for the fauna and everything around them. After the war, no one dares to cross the border between the two realms. Unfortunately, Lark and her sisters are forced to do so in order to escape the poachers that are chasing them. Going straight into the magical realm, they find themselves in a situation they're not able to escape.
Being forced to enter the Fae world again and play their vicious games, the three sisters go their separate ways, each one being subject to a different Fae ruler. Lark, the main character in this book, is forced by Cerulean, the one who rules the sky, to climb their mountain in order to win the game. The deal is: she has to win, but if her sisters don't win too, they're screwed.
The first novel in the “Vicious Faeries” series follows Lark's story and let me tell you, it's a hell of a story. I loved reading about her adventures, how she overcame the awful challenges the Fae made her go through, how she realized what's good for her and what is not. This is a special enemies-to-lovers story, which warmed my heart in such an amazing way. Oh, and there's a lot of great smut for those of you who are interested.
The ending left me in pieces and I had to stop and think about everything that I had read, because I couldn't believe that the book was over. WHY IS IT OVER? I need more Lark and Cerulean!!!
The next book in the series is going to focus on Juniper's story in Puck's realm (one of the Fae rulers) and I cannot wait to see her thrive!
Wow. Just... Wow. I can't believe how much better this series has become since the first book. The first book was so rough, so explicit in the wrong ways, so nope at some points (for me at least). But then came the second book which I liked.
And then came KINGS RISING. Oh my god . What can I say? I am giving it 5 stars, I only do this when I love love!! a book. And this one was so good, I couldn't believe it.
I loved the development of the characters. I cried, I laughed, I fell in love with Laurent and Damen and their beautiful hate to love, enemies to lovers relationship. I admired how Laurent overcame his fears, his insecurities and he became such a strong and lovable man. It is somehow clear that we wouldn't have done it the same without Damen, which makes me so happy that they found each other.
I hated The Regent so much, but his character is really good. He's sneaky, he is smart (well, not smart enough to beat Laurent and mind games) and he is cruel. A cruel, awful man, he deserves his death sentence. I came to like even Nicaise's character and I felt so sorry for him in the end. He was innocent, he didn't deserve what he got. And Aimeric too. Poor characters, they suffered so much because of this cruel man.
All in all, this was a great book. I loved it, it kept me hyped and I couldn't wait to finish it and see the ending. Which was a really emotional one, Kastor getting what he deserved and Laurent and Damen creating a world for both of them. A world of peace.
If I could give this book more than 5 stars, I would. It was incredible. The best out of the three books, I loved it soooo so much!!!
This book was an emotional rollercoaster and I loved every single part of it. It was amazing and I already feel like re-reading the whole series. Just... wow. I'M SO GLAD I DECIDED TO READ HARRY POTTER!!!!!!!!!
I am so grateful I got the chance to read an eARC of this book thanks to PRH International.
Emily Henry does it AGAIN. This is my second favorite book of hers, the first place is held by Happy Place and I don't think there's going to be a better book than that one, but Funny Story came veeery close. I loved the characters, I loved the story, the feelings, the vibes, everything about this book was amazing.
Gosh, this book took me so long to finish because I kept reading other books in between, but it was SO, SO painful. It made me cry A LOT. I mean... reading about Jem and Tessa, them talking about Will, reading abOUT TY AND KIT AND LIVVY AAAAAAAARGH
I need The Wicked Powers like RIGHT NOW
