I'm so glad Kit is back! He's a fun main character and I love how he views the world. The wittiness, the charm, the epic eye-rolls are still here, but when things are serious, you know he'll do what's needed.
When we left Kit last, we were teased with a huge conspiracy and an adventurous Darius-Kit team-up. Without going into details, it was so worth it. Darius and Kit are similar and yet super different, which makes for an interesting time. Don't worry though, Lienna is not in California forever. And she's badass as always.
And we get so much Darius and Blythe that's been hinted at in earlier Guild Codex books. Well worth the wait. I knew it was gonna be something ... heartbreaking and realistic just because of the snippets we'd gotten before. Finally getting details about them was incredible. No matter how it ends up (even though I'm sure most of us want a certain ending), I know it'll be earned for the characters and cathartic for me.
The romance has always taken a back seat, but it's been there, quietly burning and increasing in intensity. Pretty realistic for a workplace romance, especially when there's been so many bad guys running around doing bad guy things. In a way that's typical for these two MPD agents, their relationship takes two steps forward and one step back in this book. But this time it's not because they're scared, so I can't yell at them for it.
Everything in the series has been set up for an incredible payoff, and the ending of Mage Assassins & Other Misfits left us in a perfect spot. It's gonna be real hard to wait for the final book.
I love Kit so much and I'm glad he's back! Stolen Sorcery & Other Misadventures was awesome. Each one of Kit's books that comes out has become my new favorite and this one was no exception.
Unlike Rogue Ghosts, where there's a bit of unrelated magical fun before jumping into the main story, this one gets going immediately. We're left off with Agent Söze being an absolute **, and he ramps it up right away.
So much action in this book, and I loved every minute of it. Lots of scary fun adventures and Kit's humor & personality throughout. There's some breathing room for character development, and we get some really good stuff there.
Kit and Lienna make some serious strides in this book, and I love how it's playing out. Their whole thing is pretty great, and it's realistic and fun.
As always with The Guild Codex, there's tons of easter eggs and cameos of our favorite mythics. There's an introduction that I've been wanting for ages, and it is absolutely perfect. It's so much fun to see familiar characters through Kit's eyes.
The big mystery is excellent so far and I can't wait to see what's gonna happen next.
This is a super cozy mystery series and each book is an easy read.
The characters are fun, the town is whimsical and adorable. The mystery is pretty good. Characters grow, things happen. I laughed a lot.
If you want a fun witch mystery to read next to the fireplace, this is a good series for you.
