A good read overall. The author tells us about India as it really is. The only weak aspect was the primary motivation behind the characters' one main action.
There is something about her writing that makes even the ordinary details of people's occasionally mundane lives seem so fascinating.
It's pretty amazing how forward thinking Tagore's thoughts were for something he wrote more than a century ago. It also a little sad to when you realise that the problems he predicted so long ago continue to plague us even today
A lesson in leadership that reads like a corporate thriller. Finished this in one sitting.
An incredible fantasy story in the form of an autobiography set against the trials and tribulations of pre and post independence India. A deserved winner of the Booker award. Equal parts funny and poignant Rushdie's sparkling prose and fascinating cast of characters kept me hooked until the very end.
A good read. You need to take your time in reading this. Highly recommended for both Atheists and Believers. It's practical and every argument for Atheism is cogently conveyed.
Got this one as part of the Humble Ebook Bundle. Interesting plot about a scenario where humans have had to settle underwater in huge ships. Reasonably fast paced and good central characters. A sequel would have been great.
A pacing of this one was much better than the first ,probably because the first book needed time to establish the character of Shiva. Like the first the struggle to truly grasp what is good and evil remains an interesting thread that runs throughout the series so far. Definitely looking forward to the 3rd book expected by the end of the year.
Initially it might be a little hard to get comfortable with the style of writing. Once I was a few pages in though I was pretty hooked. This is a funny, moving and uncomfortable read at times. It never shys away from anything. It's the thoughts of a teenager laid bare to greatest extent possible.
I enjoyed exactly the first 30% of the book. It got very tedious around the 50% mark and only more so right until the end
Though it may be a book that will appeal a bit more to car enthusiasts it's something that everyone should try read. One of the funniest books I have read in a while. Not for the easily offended though. It's also a nice insight into various aspects of Britain from more than a decade ago
