I enjoyed the book because it was entertaining. There was nothing new in terms of plot, nothing life-changing, but it was fun. It was an easy, enjoyable read.
Will I be reading the next book in the series? Yes, because I'm curious about what will happen next and Nadir's role in the story.
This is an entertaining read. It's easy to get into just like other McFadden's books. However, I think The Housemaid is still her best work. This definitely is a step up from The Coworker. I can still remember those turtles. Lol.
While the plot is nice, the twist became predictable. I don't know if it's because I've read a lot of her books so I kind of have a grasp of how she thinks. Nonetheless, it's a quick and easy read. Will definitely be something to get someone out of a reading slump.
Rollercoaster of emotions - that's what I felt in this book. Kate Golden did great in making her readers feel the characters' emotions. I felt their grief, their anger, their happiness, their frustrations (and even their lust
Picked up this book because of its interesting plot and finished it happily because it did not disappoint!
We got this sheltered FMC who has to ride on horseback naked for 21 days and his gorgeous bodyguard who I imagine looks like Henry Cavill in The Witcher but with dark hair and all
This book is beautifully-written. I understand why some people are bored with it and give up because it's a very slow-moving story. But I appreciated that because the way this was written pulled me immensely into the world and into Kaan and Raeve's story. The final 10% of the books was where things started to get exciting so I would expect (and hope) that the 2nd book would be better. Can't wait for Fall 2025
I really enjoyed this book! I loved how it highlighted Filipino culture—from the food to the superstitions and especially the mythological creatures we grew up hearing about. And the setting, Biringan, was perfect! It's a legendary place in the Philippines where another world is said to exist, and the way it was described made it feel so real.
The worldbuilding pulled me right in, and the plot twists were timed just right, keeping me hooked.
My only issue was with MJ's character. At 18, she's about to become queen, but her dialogue felt more like that of a 14-year-old at times. She seemed a bit immature, and it felt like Lucas was doing a lot of the saving. However, I did see some good character development, so I'm hopeful for more growth in the next book.
And that cliffhanger... UGH! Why must we wait until March?!
This series just keeps getting better.
I loved that even if it's a romantasy, it isn't overwhelmingly all about the romance. There is more romance here but the spice is just enough. The enemies-to-lovers trope didn't also falter even if they already had feelings for each other in book 1.
More than the romance, I am actually intrigued with the world here and its political and familial issues. It's like Game of Thrones but with fae and without the dragons - sad by the lack of dragons though, but we have a monoceros which is like a fierce and dark unicorn. Anyway, the plot twists were also timed well.
Great character growth too for both the main and side characters.
You all should read this book!!!
Wtf did I just read? Lol mindfucked throughout. Which version of reality is real? I have no freaking idea. If that was the goal, then the author did a helluva job.
