So. This book, in the beginning, was amazing. Pace was good. Action was good. Yay. However, CRESS. Oh god oh GOD i hate HATE crybabies. Seriously? She whimpers, trembles, and sobs in every single chapter or scene she appears. She was boring and uninteresting and made the book UNREADABLE. I went through a slump. I spent one week more on this book simply because of that really unnecessary desert chapter. It was useless. Annoying. Dragged on for too long. The ending, or rather the last action scene, made it for me. I liked it. I hope Winter is better. The only reason why I finished this today so fast was so I could move on to another book.
Edit; I lowered it to one-star because every time I think about a book I hated, this was it
We are introduced to Winston, a party member of the Big Brother Party, and he works in the ministry of records. This is where they totally erase any mentions of past allies, vaporized traitors, and any facts that went against the Party's “facts.” I was going to make a joke about Trump and his alternative facts, but this isn't the case with Big Brother. Those facts are simply the true ones and anything else in the contrary is a lie.

Sometimes the writing is kind of elementary but the plot is cute and Peter is cute so all is good with the world.
He truly has not lost his penchant for telling high fantasy stories. Though the short stories contained characters newly introduced, they were still as riveting as the usual cast of characters. Can not wait for the next volume!
I finished this three months ago during my flight to Korea and back. I was invested in 50% of it, then afterwards it just got so boring with Chaol's romance with Yrene. Which, btw, is as boring as his character. I'm reading KoA right now and thank god they don't show up that much. In ToD, I just skimmed until it got to the important sections and the lore. Nesyrn and Sartaq were good though keep that coming. Still all in all a waste of time and could have been condensed into a novella or something. Or just . Idk ignored his healing? He's still a dumb idiot.
Straight up, five stars. I cannot stress how much this book has improved since Heir of Fire.
1.) NO PACING ISSUES. It didn't start off slow or too fast-paced. It was beautiful. Beautiful.
2.) Female characters. Each and every one of them were diverse and unique and beautiful and strong and courageous. Sarah writes the best females in any fiction. Ever. I love it.
3.) Relationships were sacred and treated as such. The friendship between Aelin and Lysandra was strong. Is strong. Unbreakable. Chaol never stopped believing in Dorian and Nesryn never stopped believing in Chaol. Amazing. And the bond between Manon and Asterin? Made me fucking tear up. Aedion with practically everyone. Yes.
4.) Romance. Yes. Yes. Yes.
5.) Plot. It wasn't confusing it wasn't too quick it was perfect and made absolute sense. Plus! No cliffhangers!
6.) Character development. Holy shit. I hated Chaol. Now I can tolerate him. Honestly, best best character development ever. And Manon? Yeah. Her sudden discovery of herself and her own consciousness was amazing. Love.
7.) Just everyone and everything was amazing. Don't listen to the haters or the bashers because this book was written BEAUTIFULLY. V BEAUTIFULLY.
READ IT PLEASE.
With every book that is released, Maas' writing improves by a mile. If Throne of Glass were a cookie, then ACOTAR is a brownie. A BROWNIE. Let me just say, I got lots of feels in this book. Particularly for my favorite character but that involves spoilers (I love you Rhysand). Anyways, the romance is a slow burn, filled with hopes and fears and scars galore. I love Tamlin but he was wrong in some ways and I don't think I will quite forgive him for his actions no matter how well intentioned they were and how much they were right in the long run. I can't wait until book 2 because I am sure that is going to be my favorite of the three.
This book was amazing. It tied everything together into this ONE BIG GIGANTIC PLOT AND I LOVED EVERY SINGLE BIT OF IT. I'm very disheartened at the thought of Rowan not showing up for quite a while, but, THEIR FRIENDSHIP/RELATIONSHIP WAS POSSIBLY THE BEST IN THE ENTIRE SERIES.
I hope Aedion and Dorian live through the end because they truly became close to my heart. Can't wait for the next book
For its time, the book was pretty entertaining. I think my favorite character was Christian, and I am very glad that Rose didn't end up with Dimitri. Well, I hope to maybe continue reading the next book so I can meet best boy.
This book had a lot of promise but fell short in places that counted. I'm still looking forward to the sequel when it becomes available at the library.
It was all right — pretty cute in terms of the fictional retelling of Alexander Hamilton's and Elizabeth Schuyler's Union! Otherwise, not a too deep read.
Truly enjoyed this book. Started a bit slow, but it's everything I wanted when I heard of the premise being about vampires and New Orleans.

I would've loved this book if it weren't for the annoying and over-done use of women on women jealousy.
Can't even say I really “finished” this book. I skimmed and straight up skipped many chapters because... well because I didn't care about any of the characters except for Tyler? His chapters with Saedii were very good, almost enough to convince me that... she's basically Kal, more ruthless, but same quips and chemistry with Tyler. So, there is Kal and Tyler romance. Just with the girl version of Kal.
Again, the nonsense with Aurora is very unnecessary. It's like shoving in romance that doesn't need to have romance. Shoving in opposite sex couples in a book with TWO gay characters yet no pay-off. I get it. They don't have to be in gay relationships to /be gay/. But it would be nice to see SOME kind of same-sex relationships in this book.
Also, all the plot-twists and such, I was not surprised by any of them. Mildly maybe in regards to Tyler and Scar, but... yeah. The plot is a mess.
I think Novik should stick to either one or two point of views. Most of this book was a wild ride, and not in a good way. Toward the end I skipped all of Stepon's, whoever Irina's nurse lady is, and Wanda's point of view. I maybe gave half of a thought for Irina's POV. I liked Miryem and the Staryk Lord's story the most — definitely should've just been those two.
I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
When I first started this book, I wasn't prepared to love it. I had very little expectations because it reminded me of so many other young adult series and I just couldn't help but groan and sigh when Callum and Noa began their little romance. But. Oh my god. That plot twist? I didn't see it coming. I had a sneaking suspicion that there was more to Lily's death than Callum gave off, but otherwise, it came out of left field.
Also, that romance between Noa and Judah? Yes. Yes. The buildup was amazing and though I had a sneaking suspicion that they would be each other's true love, I didn't know how they would find out and what the consequences were going to be. Hopefully, they find each other once again in the second or third book!
As for favorite characters, Judah and Sasha are definitely my favorite. Sometimes Noa can be a little bit too strong-headed and intense when it comes to Callum, but that is what makes Noa, Noa. As for the other characters, I didn't exactly care about Miles or Olivia that much? And the missing people were just brushed over and no mention of the students or the teachers were ever brought up.
There was little character development but that wasn't something that detracted from the overall novel. I am looking forward to reading the next few books!
