the only reason i kept reading was because i had heard the ending was fantastic. but i didn't feel that way & i was pretty bored the whole time. writing style felt exhausting somehow too
Loved Will and Lou and the impact their relationship had on each other. Loved Will's snarky and sarcastic personality. I think this book handles a deep and morally challenging subject without being too terribly heavy. Sad, happy, sweet, and thought provoking all at once.
This book was incredibly entertaining. It was so fun to follow the characters through all the alternate dimensions and watch them live those different lives. Highly recommend!
I also think it ends in a way that can easily be read as a standalone. Which is perfect for me sometimes when I don't necessarily want to get into another series.
this was pretty bland to me. didn't keep me on my toes or interested in what was going to happen
Darling Girls follows three foster sisters who are summoned back to the house they grew up in after some bones are found buried underneath the house.
While this book focused a lot on the abuse and trauma the sisters went through with their foster mother, I never felt that it was too dark or heavy. The three sisters were unique in the ways they came into the foster system, the things they had been through in the past, and how being in the foster system, specifically with Miss Fairchild as their foster mother, really shaped them into the people they are in the present time. I enjoyed the bond between the three of them, and I found the relationships between each of them and Miss Fairchild to be very interesting as well.
I flew through this. I was very intrigued from the start, and it was truly such a page turner. I did not love the very end, however, and would have been satisfied without the last chapter.

This is a cute coming of age story about not knowing what you want to do after high school. There's emphasis on adventures in a new place, new friendships, being on your own, and navigating relationships with parents.
I found this to be enjoyable but not a favorite. I didn't really love any of the characters and I especially find it difficult to enjoy a romance book if I don't find myself rooting for the main couple to end up together. There was lots of adventure involved with checking things off of a bucket list, which was kind of fun but also just had a lot going on.
If you love NYC, I think you should check this one out because the love of the city was a big part of what drew Riley there.
There was also a lot more language than I expected which surprised me.

3.5
I think the three sisters were interesting characters, especially in the past perspectives, and I liked the flashback chapters to understand what their home life was like as children and how their parents treated them. Their home life was really sad and abusive, but I found that past timeline more interesting than the present timeline of trying to uncover the secrets of what happened many years ago. The ending and resolution to the mystery had a lot going on, and I thought the ending was pretty average.
I would still recommend for those who love thrillers where the character returns to their hometown and past secrets are being uncovered.

The thing I loved the most about this is how the story was told. We have an admittedly unreliable narrator who leaves out important information as he tells us about the events that unfolded on a private Greek island. He tells the same story a few times, and each time he interjects some more of the truth and some backstory as to how they all ended up on the island.
I found the narrator very interesting, and I enjoyed being in his head and hearing his thoughts. There is a lot of character analysis since he loves to analyze why people might do the things that they do. I liked the psychology of it, and I found both the narrator's voice and the plot very engaging.
