This is a good sequel to “Villains” and it explores the consequences of having super powers. You get to learn more about the supporting cast of characters, which helps with the story build. I believe that there is going to be a final book and I am interested to see where the story goes after the ending of this book.
This book should have been edited down. It was over written and shouldn't have been almost 500 pages. Joan really started to get on my nerves about halfway into the book. I will probably pick up the last book just to find out what happens.
This was a recommendation on BookTube and I thought I would give it a try. I have been trying to find some good mangas to read and recommend to others. This book is definately not what I expected. I thought it would be a cute story, but it turned into something dark. I actually enjoyed the unexpectedness of the book. I want to know what happens so I will pick up the rest of the series.
This was such a disturbing book. Not my cup of tea. Now I need to remove what I read from my memory.
I really enjoyed about 3/4 of this book. I am not a Harley Quinn fan. I have never been a Harley Quinn fan, but it was interesting to read about her life as a child and as a psychiatrist. I had a problem with a certain section in the book that was added for no other reason but for a politically correct inclusion of a certain type of person. I have no problem with inclusion, if it was important to the story. This section that was added served no purpose and was unnecessary to the story, since the character does nothing to advance the storyline. It felt forced, it read as forced and it almost turned me off to the rest of the book. I did finish it and was disappointed in Harley's transformation in the end. I give it 4 stars because the first 3/4 of the book was so interesting enough to warrant that rating.
This book kept be interested until the end. Overall a good serial killer mystery/ thriller. This book does touch upon some sensitive subjects such as rape, emotional and physical abuse. The protagonist made some stupid and immoral decisions and the writer slipped in her political leanings near the end...which was slightly annoying. Overall a decent read.
A basic YA fantasy that was just fine. It was nothing spectacular. Not horrible. 3 stars.
2.5 stars. The world-building was okay. The plot was weak, at best. The characters were okay, but Larken was too childish for my taste. I don't mind a good YA fantasy if it was written well. This one was too boring for me.
Out of the three Batman prose novels, this one was an entirely original story. I really enjoyed this book. It was beautifully written and it transported me into the world of Gotham. The story does switch from past to present and ties up well in the end. This book helped me understand why Gotham is the way it is and it was fun to read a little about the history of Batman and the Court of Owls. I recommend this book to Batman fans.
Got this in a Fairyloot box and decided to give it a try since it was one of the Goodreads finalists. At first, I wasn't impressed. By the time I got about 100 pages in, I was enjoying it. Granted, it is a basic YA fantasy/romance...nothing new or spectacular. It was a lot of fun to read, though. I will probably pick up the sequel when it releases. 4 stars.
I hated this book. Another anticipated read that made my eyes roll throughout. I am going to have to think twice before picking up another Lucy Foley book. All of them were just okay to plain bad. Sad face.
An interesting story about college roommates who were fascinated by how super heroes get their powers that they became super villains. This book is full of hypocritical, morally corrupt characters that actually makes the story hard to put down. A fun read. I will read the rest of the series.
At first, I didn't think I would like this book. Celaena is a vain, arrogant and a sometimes unlikable character. The book starts to get interesting about 200 pages in. A fun read that captures my interest enough to pick up the next book in the series to see what happens next.
I DNF'ed this book at about 129 pages. The writing style is different and it took me a minute to get used to it. I realized this book wasn't for me when I started drifting off while I was reading it. Finally, I just stopped caring. I'm sad I didn't enjoy this.
I thought this book would be more interesting than it was. The concept was good. I thought I would find the war between the Red's and the Silver's to be fascinating. Mare, the protagonist, was a little annoying and made too many dumb decisions. Overall, the book was okay. I have a feeling I will be too annoyed to read the rest of the series, so I think I will skip it.
The characters in this book didn't invoke any emotional response from me. I just didn't care about the story or the characters. 2.5 stars.
This book was different than any other book I read before. I recommend if you want a sci-fi thriller that makes you appreciate what you have. Very entertaining and enjoyable to the end.
Interesting twist on the traditional Cinderella story where she is a cyborg mechanic. A fun YA sci-fi.
This was a fun read about a magical “game” that takes place for 5 days. The story was full of mystery, magic, and romance. Scarlett and Julian's “ relationship “ was intriguing and my favorite part of the book. It was a blast following them around Caraval, trying to figure out the “game”. Great book!
This installment is full of angst and drama. So laughed at parts that were just so ridiculous! It was a lot of fun to read. If you want a goofy, smutty, angsty fantasy, then you need to read this series. 5 stars!
