I don't know how much the TV series (which I love) colored my experience with the book, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was like listening to lost episodes of the show.

Jury Duty by Jim Butcher.

Listened as part of the Unfettered anthology.

Really short, not much to it. Maybe if I had read the series this would have been more interesting.

Dang it, I read book two first.

Every bit as good as the first, maybe better.

Listened to the audiobook as part of the Unfettered anthology. I like the idea of music as magic. The writing was good, I'll probably check out the series.

Listened to the audio book as part of the Unfettered anthology. I'm definitely going to check out the series.

Listened to the audiobook as part of the Unfettered anthology. An interesting story, I'll be looking at the series for sure.

The ending came rather abruptly, but otherwise a fun read. The narrator for the audiobook is amazing.

Really? Tentacle porn?

The guy reading the audio book is awesome and makes me want to keep going with this series, but the repetition of.. well, everything, is really starting to wear me down.

Not the worst book I've read, but I'm definitely skipping the rest of the series.

The sex scenes weren't really my thing, but fortunately they were short. Overall an interesting story.

I liked this second book more than the first. The cheesy romance is still there, but the pacing was much better. I wish the magic system made more sense, but it didn't bother me as much this time. Maybe I was just used to it.

I liked the magic system, although it didn't make much sense. I liked the characters, although they weren't fleshed out. Beyond the smaller flaws, the two things that kept me from really liking it were that it was much too short and the romance... the romance.

Like the other books in the series, this one is similar in feel, yet puts our hero in a completely new situation. I like this series more with each book.

Almost didn't finish it. I just couldn't get into the heroine's big problem being she was just too beautiful. Slightly less melodrama in the romance, but it was still unappealing. Not sure that I want to read the last one. In fact, I just talked myself out of it.

Towards the middle the melodrama and romance got to be too much for me and I had to put it down for a couple of days, but overall I liked it. An interesting world and characters.
