I am trying to put my thoughts together in regards to this book and all I can think of is that, like the characters, the grief is far too much to bear. I had an enjoyable time with this novel. Easily in the top 5 of what I've read all year but it is an emotional journey I was not ready for.
It took me at least a few days to pick it back up to read part 5 and finish and half was that so much was happening at once and that I just did not want to leave the world given to me. M. L. Rio wrote a transcendent novel and I look forward to the next book she releases in the future.
I really just cannot vibe with the way this is written. I gave it a little bit and it's just not for me.
I wanted to like this a lot more than I did but the length and the ending brought it down for me.
This had a rough first part but once it got going it was unputdownable. Wonderful series so far and I'm saddened that it is not as popular as it should be.
Loved this book when i was younger and now looking back I wouldn't really recommend due to the changing times when it comes to beauty, body acceptance, and the fact that the later books suck in my opinion.
A quick read with one of the most relatable protagonists I've read about, sans murder of course. I have brothers that are autistic and strangers to society in their own way so it hit a bit close to home, especially the trial knowing that even now those with Asperger's/autism and the like eccentricities are used against them. “I felt the urge to reassure him that I was like everybody else, just like everybody else.”
Quite possibly my favorite classic along with Gatsby. The themes and lesson of it is so rich that in ever era of my life I learn something new from it each time. I cannot understand why Victorian England hated this book but they were missing out and missing the point of the novel entirely.
Twilight if you love Jacob and better writing. Her other series is a lot better and less derivative of YA literary trends.
A literary masterpiece from a man with a message to tell of suburban America, and what a message it is.
A masterpiece of the genre. You can clearly see the tendrils of what is to become modern fantasy in this book and I am much better to have read it. Elric is a man of principle, torn between what is expected of him as king, what he truly wants in life and, what destiny his gods and demons have for him. I will watch his journey going forward with much appreciation.
Great series and ghastly underrated. Why did they never make a blockbuster out of this? It's honestly better than the Hunger games in my opinion.
A cute in between when I was waiting for harry Potter books but I wouldn't really go back to reread them.
Not a favorite of mine. I read this due to Dom and George and it's fun for what it is but it's age is really apparent and I don't like the first person but I am invested in the story to see it through.
People hate this book, but when I read this as a middle schooler it was my favorite one out of the three that were published at the time. Still derivative but it has elves and Roran whose story I found to be much more interesting than Eragon.
I enjoyed it when I was younger and attempted to go back and found myself bored with the cliches. If this is your first fantasy ever and you're in middle school, which is when I read this tome, then it'll be a good stepping stone to the magical world of 1000 page behemoth novels about sword and sorcery. If you're an adult I honestly suggest skipping it and just reading Brandon Sanderson or Bryan Weeks.
First in my Star Wars Legends-A-Thon and it's an okay book. Fun enough but the constant back and forth with the flashbacks got annoying after a while and the mystery was not explained and probably won't be explained since Disney got its hands on the franchise soon after this was published so this is no longer canon. What a shame.
It was a fun ride. The ending didn't really sit well with me but I guess it was inevitable. Didn't really like the description they gave Revan but I guess I clung to my play through of KOTOR a bit much as I read.
Pretty good classic. I've never read or even heard of Evelyn Waugh before this year and book and this was completely delightful.
A wonderful tale of an underrated goddess. I always enjoyed Circe in both the original Odyssey and Percy Jackson so having her story told and seeing it unfold was lovely to behold
