I really wanted to like this fake dating romance, but I just couldn't get into it. I listened to this book on audio and I don't think it was the narrator André Santana. They were engaging. I just don't think I connected with Joaquin or Felix. I listened to this book twice, because the first time I thought I just wasn't in a good place to receive a romance between step-brothers, but yeah I couldn't do it. I know above it says godson, but he lives with her mother and I listened twice and I'm pretty sure it was more in the role of stepson. Joaquin lives out of the closet and Felix lives down-low. For me it just could have been the too close in the family at a young age factor. You read it and tell me what you think.

This book can be read as a standalone. There are other characters from what I assume are the other books in the series with their current life updates. Spear lays down the groundwork for a possible future romance for another couple. All and all, it's a holiday romance so there is plenty of mistletoe and cheer.

The Hunt for Artemis is a clean sweet romance that concentrates on the friendship and foundation part of the journey. I truly enjoyed it. No worries if you haven't read any of the other books in the series as this can be read as a standalone. The author says they are taking a break from the series for now so this is the perfect time to read Hunt for Artemis.

Ares does a great job of creating layers to set up the next book. The ongoing changes and twists kept the story moving along. Love and Other Cages can be read as a standalone, but to get the full picture of the main characters I would recommend reading the first one before tackling this one.

This is a heavy read. It's about the loss of a close friend and lover and how no one has moved on. Get some cookies or whatever comfort food you need and get ready to sink into history, both personal and historical.

The ending actually surprised me and you gotta love that in a mystery. I have a new crush and his (yes “his”) name is Porter Beck. I can't wait to read the next one.

I love the illustrations by Daymel J. Garcia. They are bright, colorful, and engaging. It reminds me of watercolors and the colors change enough to keep a young reader engaged. The text is simple and the message is clear. Garcia explains why a bully may behave the way they do and why Onion Boy should ignore the negative comments. This section is full and done beautifully.

Chronically Dolores is written with sensitivity, humor, and the realism needed to tell their stories correctly. I freaking love this book and I would love a sequel of the ladies in their college years. This one is a must read.

Knit, Purl, a Baby and a Girl is a little deeper than your usual Carina romances due to the pregnancy of the main character. It's still a sweet romance with a happy ending and we can always use one of those.

Bronze takes photos of cheating partners. His current client is higher up on society's food chain when suddenly a body connected to the photos ends up dead. Soon after Bronze is in the hitman's crosshairs as well.
I rarely talk about language in my reviews, but when I do it always seems to be regarding crime noirs. Maybe they have a language all of their own that immediately entices the reader or I just got lucky with Colin Krainin's Blood and Mascara. I was immediately sucked in.
Blood and Mascara is a crime noir that will have you flipping the pages to see what happens next.
