Não sou leitor habitual de HQs mas achei este livro incrível. A arte é impressionante e os detalhes de BH me chamaram a atenção. O plot não foi o ponto forte para mim, mas eu gostei muito de ser uma história que cobre todo um século.

Sublime photography — makes for a really good coffee table book

Good tour of fundamental ideas and theories in physics. Aimed at the general public but it could benefit from more technical concepts in my eyes

I found this book insightful. Soros is clearly a very deep thinker (although perhaps not the philosopher he wanted / aspired to be). I think the world would benefit if we had more content like this

The ‘Calorie Man' absolutely blew my mind (and made me realize energy abundance is not a normal state of affairs — in a very opportune moment, as growing power demand coming from data centers / AI makes us face the hard constraint of energy). All the stories are very grim though

Siddhartha Mukherjee has a phenomenal way of writing about medicine / biology. This was truly a fantastic read

This book probably is very powerful for somehow who grew in Appalachia or nearby. I personally did not take away very much from this. It's interesting thinking back to this book in 2024 knowing where JD Vance would end up...

What a read. This is one of the truly few books that have made me think deeply about life

Ed Thorp is the kind of genius that belongs in the same group as Feynman, Von Neumann, and really only a few more. It astounded me how much of a great person he's been in every activity he undertook (and there were so many)

Tchaikovsky excels at making you feel like an actual spider or ant is thinking and writing those words. The actual plot felt a bit cliche-y

What is there to say about Ted Chiang that hasn't been said already? Fantastic book — highly recommend reading Gwern's discussion of the different stories

Hoffman wrote an interesting book on coffee for beginners and enthusiasts alike. If you read this along Jonathan Gagné's writings, you can get a pretty good understanding of coffee brewing. Hoffman's videos, of course, would also be massively helpful

The discussion around poker in the first half was interesting, and I think Nate Silver is on to something when he contrasts the Riverians vs. people from the Village, but the book is overly long (the multiple chapters on SBF certainly don't help).
