Wow! This book was a surprise partly because I didn't really expect anything from it and partly because the summary didn't begin to explain what the story is really about. This book was written beautifully and it was able to make me feel every emotions that Kiri felt, I fell in love, got heartbroken, was surprised, frustrated, delirious, passionate, in a musical trance, misunderstood, sad and every emotions inbetween. This was a great discovery to start the year 2019!
The little downside of this story was that there was some things that seemed too easy for Kiri, like biking non-stop all over town, being really great at music, writing an entire set in 5 days, learning by heart a 100 pages of piano partition, being the greatest musician in the rom (no real competition)... But I guess it came with the territory, she is a piano prodigy after all...
I guess I would like to see what's next for the characters and I would love to take part in their new adventures!
I'm not sure how I feel about this one, there is a lot of questions that came out from this read.
I was expecting a story of She's the Man's type, and I got one. But I didn't expect a sci-fy backdrop for this to unfold. Some of the writing was cheesy and predictable, but I mostly enjoyed my read.
The ending was weird and cringe worthy and I didn't always understand the reasonings and motivations to act a certain way of some of the characters.
I loved the part on the boat at the beginning, it really felt like a pirate story. After that I didn't felt that much invested in the story and the characters (especially Mal, so whiny...) but it was interesting enough and I really liked Nikolai and his story, I will for sure read the duology about him.
Ps: The Darkling creeps me out, I don't understand the fan's fascination with him as a romantic interest.
This was a great read and I had a lot of fun reading it! For this I alternated between the audiobook and the physical copy and both were great, but I think the audiobook better helps the reader understand the whole story because of all the exchange of messages between multiple characters. I am now excited to watch the movie that's coming out later this year! I hope it will be as fun and entertaining as the book!
I cried, I laughed, I screamed and I smiled. I'm hooked, I'll have to read the whole series now. Oh well...
I liked it even if it was a bit too cheesy at times. I would've like to see a little bit more of a learning curve for her ability and it could have been great to learn more about her and her sister's abilities. I was a little disapointed by the ending... Over all it made me think of the long lost TV show Pushing Daisies, now I think I'm gonna have to rewatch it!
One of the best exemple of an unhealthy relationship passed has a healthy one. NEEDING somebody to want to stay alive is not proof of a healthy relation.
This book has insta-love and Sadie has the lowest self-esteem ever seen. Since she was a little girl her mother (who is really a case for child services) has told her that she got her looks but that she has a bad personnality. Way to go mother of the year!
This book is partly redeemed by the secondary characters like Marcus.
I don't recommend this book.
