Tadhg is perfection!
This book was adorable and I loved learning about the indian culture with the dance styles and recipes talked about in this story.
It made me want to learn more about the different dance styles of India, I went and watched multiple prestations of different of the dance styles.
I would love to see this book come to life in an adaptation, I feel that it is such a visually beautiful story (in my head at least!).
I will gladly read another one of this author's book in the future!
Such an enchanting tale and cast of characters. I loved reading this beautiful story.
I loved it! I'm also realising that I really love a treasure hunting type of story with side quests and everything. Also the fantasy/supernatural aspect of the story was interesting and the main couple made me think of Phoebe and Cole. I was also very interested in the escape room side of the story!
Didn't expect to laugh that much reading this kind of book.
But, I really didn't like how he hurt her at the end by making her feel like he ended it, just to then surprise her and tell her 3 weeks would be too much time between the times they saw each other. Not cool, you made your girl cry for no reason...
It's just not my type of book/story, I like retellings but I'm not that interested in Romeo and Juliet. But I get why this story is so popular and I'm glad I read it. I'm pretty sure I'm not gonna continue with the series after this one, but I think it is an important story to be heard it gives an interesting perspective on important issues.
Such a purely cozy and entertaining read, I loved every word of it! ❤ I'm excited to know that next year I will still be able to dive into the little town of Evenfall for another witchy adventure with the sequel!
This book and it's characters fell flat for me, I was annoyed at the main character and I really didn't like the way the emotions between Sam and Julie were explained and not shown.
I guess I now know that I don't like romance books where there are no possible outcome in which the characters in love could end up together (when one is dead). This feeling of dullness also showed it's face when I read another book of the same type(If I stay), although this one had a chance of recovery because the “dead” character was in a coma. The same memory based love story didn't engage me at all and I couldn't feel the emotions of the characters in both this book and If I stay. Towards the end, I was so annoyed I had to force myself to finish it even though I was reading it in the audiobook version.
So I guess maybe I would recommend this book to someone who also loved If I stay.
Meanwhile one of my favorite book is PS:I Love You from Cecelia Ahern which treats of a similar subject but in a way that I really felt deeply for in every bone of my body.
Either way I didn't like this book and after all the hype it received I was expecting a lot more...
As time passes I realize more and more that I am not that interested in reading a Romeo and Juliet retelling or inspired novel. I just don't think it's my cup of tea.
Otherwise I really liked this pleasant and sweet novel and I probably will be reading the companion book too. I really liked being immersed in this interesting cast of characters and this beautiful culture.
But I have to say that the male protagonist(Bao) was not my type of character. Listen I didn't hate the guy, far from it, I was just not that invested in his developments and his whereabouts in general. In my opinion, Linh was way more of an interesting character.
Excellent!
4,5
This book was a total surprise for me. I picked it up because I saw people online talking about it and saying it was good and I knew nothing of the story going into it.
This book is pure joy and entertainment, I was sucked into this story so fast. I must say I took my time reading the first half of the book, but the second half flew by and I was so motivated to read to know what was going to happen next with our characters.
I loved the world and the politics of it and I will surely be reading the second book of the series this year.
I like that I swooned for each of the male love interests(yes there is a love triangle) at some point in the story and that the choice was not so obvious from the get go. This way you understand more when the MC find it difficult to choose and also a lot of the decision making love wise has to do with something outside of just liking each other or not.
I'm so happy I gave this book a try without knowing anything of the plot and the characters and I think I should do more of this in the future: less expectations means more chance to be pleasantly surprised!
Such a touching, beautiful and heartfelt story, I loved every minute of reading it! I will be reading the other books in this series for sure! This is such an easy 5 stars to give!❤
Interesting, but not world-chattering. I liked some parts and was indifferent for another big part of the book. But this did very well what it intended to do: rewrite The Hunger Games from Peeta's POV. The part I was indifferent about was mostly what i already read and know from the original version, but I know this was necessary to the writing of this version. Otherwise I liked some of the creative choices the author made but some others really did not make sense for me in this.
Overall, this was an ok read that I could see myself recommend to hardcore fans who crave this kind of content, but not so much to the casual fan of the orginal series.
I have yet to decide if I am gonna continue on with the second tome in this.
DNF at 30%. Felt like a mashup of many of the popular YA books of the last decade or so. Some elements seemed to be directly taken(with no subtlety whatsoever) from books like The Hunger Games, The Selection, Red Queen and Divergent.
There seemed to be no real reason for most of what was happening or had happened, the universe didn't seem well thought out and I did not care for any of the characters. Some of the scenes felt like they were almost copied and pasted from other books.
This story and these characters felt unoriginal and like it had no heart and no soul.
I was excited for this story but after 30% it gave me nothing much and I decided to DNF it to respect my own time.
