What a book.
I loved how well Stella's character and struggles were portrayed without making her being less than herself. She didn't let it define her in a bad way.
And Michael's own issues were also super well described.
I loved their chemistry, their understanding, and even if their stubbornness brought tears to my eyes, it was worth it.
Now I need to read everything written by Helen because I'm pretty sure I'll feel as content as I feel now ♥
I wish I could give this 20 stars instead of 5. The story telling, the pacing, the character development, everything was perfect. I'm in love with this is story, with this world, it was you know like creepy and powerful and mysterious and fun and I love it I can't wait to start the next one!!
Ps. Now I'm also excited about the TV show based on this series
I've been waiting for this book/story since book one in the core series. I love Ryke and Daisy. My favorite couple.
They have an special connection from the beginning.
Samantha Calloway and Sarah Hale, deserve the same place in hell. How can you be someone's mother and do THAT to them?
Period.
Now, after reading this in the suggested order, back to the main series.
I really liked the book! I suspected the plot twist from half of the book but the execution still surprised me! I need to start the second ASAP!
Likeable characters and hateful ones, you know who.
Can0t wait to see what happens next!
3.8 out of 5. Since these are the first works of SJM I understand that pacing was not the best. I struggled a bit reading it but now I'm really excited about the actual ToG saga knowing more about Celaena's background story!
It was entertaining and fun and the steamy scene were chef's kiss
I loved that it was light drama but still had good pacing and didn't get boring
This is my favorite of the saga so far, I feel like finally is going somewhere and not just dragging the story to make it longer.
Dorian is still my favorite boy ♥ I'm excited to see what comes next
I've just re-read this book in a day. It was the first book romance I've ever read that talked about domestic violence in this way when I read it for the first time. It left such an impression on me. And reading it again, 10 years later makes me realize what a timeless good book this is.
Re read in 2024 and just as good. It's one of the very few of that era that can pass the test of time
I can't believe I didn't write a review of this book. This book was the one that renovated my will to read this year after a long time. It opened a whole new world to me. And I loved it. As the beginning of a series, it was AMAZING.
I read this book in a day. I LOVE Connor and Rose SO MUCH. They're up there for my favorite couple. Their closed-up personalities and way of seeing life, making decisions, and reacting towards catastrophe were relatable for me.
ps: Scott Van Wright you can burn in hell.
ps 2: I'll miss these six characters SO MUCH when I finish the series.
I couldn't finish and it takes a lot for me to Dnf a book but I couldn't connect with a characters. It wasn't written badly as in grammatically but I couldn't see the story evolving into something that would keep me interested enough to finish it
I LOVED this story. It had angst and great characters. I LOVED the main characters, they were perfect for each other ♥
4 stars only because I'm utterly HEARTBROKEN with the turn of events.
Spoilers ahead! warning!!
I'm so proud of Celaena for what she endured and how she took that last bit of light and used it to go through literally the worst kind of darkness. That scene where her loved ones talked to her when she was protecting the barrier was so powerful.p.s. I ship her and Rowan so hard, but my heart hurts so much for Chaol and Dorian (OMG Dorian ;;;), they're still MY BOYS. Also, Aedion, can't wait for the family reunion.
I'll always remember these characters. Even if I complained about the many POVs during my journey reading this saga. I grew fond of them.
Dorian always held a special place for me. Then Aelin, who's been through so much and still was willing to give more. And Chaol. I dont care about what others think of him. His journey was one of learning too. He could acknowledge his mistakes and grow and I loved him for it.
Manorian is my fave pair. I can't deny it hahaha
I sobbed for like 30 chapters lol. THE BIG 3 THOUGH. THEY WILL ALWAYS BE MY BABIES.
I hope someday we get a TV show or movies about this saga, because I think it's made for it. A great show (like got) or great movies (like LOTR)
4.5 only because my heart broke so many times, and this last twist at the end, even tho I knew it would happen, it was still heartbreaking. I hope this trio could be reunited in the future.
I don't know who I love most yet. ;;
This book was a game changer for me, I didn't expect the twist, but I HOPED FOR IT, since the end of book 1!! It didn't disappoint!
Re read 2022. I loved it as much as I did the first time I read it tho now my favorite characters are Nesta and Cassian. This book deserves its hype after acotar!
I really liked this book. I can't wait to see how the tv series will turn out in comparison!
Polin is such a sweet and passionate couple!
I really liked this book. They took each step of the process with respect. Henry was so funny and Reed saw through the outside and found HIM.
