First read of the year!
It was fine. I do think it could have benefitted from being a little longer - there were so many interesting ideas & characters that didn't quite flesh themselves out. But I'm a sucker for a battle royale-esque storyline so I still enjoyed it!
3.5 stars. I liked the premise of all three books in the series, and loved the main characters. They were easy to root for, but IMO the narrative doesn't spend enough time with them. Pacing is a little off for me also. Enjoyable series tho!
I am going to say something I have never said before in my entire life: I liked the movie more.
every time they referred to that damn dog as a “white ball of fluff” it took a year off my life. please. there are other descriptors out there!!
It was enjoyable and kept me on my toes, though I wish some plot points hadn't been revealed so early on - when we finally get to the narrator's explanation of those plot points, it's kind of glossed over since we knew it was going to happen after the 3rd chapter.
I got a little bored at parts but the concept was interesting enough to keep me reading. I also didn't mind the romance but it was a little out of place. 3.5 stars.

3.5 because there were parts of this that were a slog to get through. And it was a little weird. But then also I ate this tf up...! Really good world building and such an interesting story love u Holly Black they can never make me hate u
SUCH a breath of fresh air & wonderful take on a thriller. Every character was so real. Flawed but so fleshed out.
The reading slump is OVERRRRR
