This is potentially the most adorably, cute book I have ever read. So so cute. It just makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Loved it. 💜
Really comprehensive study of the Tudor dynasty, complete with chapters on interesting Background notes.
Four was already my favourite character. He was just better written than Tris. This book just made me wish the entire series really had been written from his perspective.
In some ways, it was uncomfortable reading this book, having followed Nick (and BSB) since practically the beginning. Fitting the things he talks about in the book into the general group timeline was enlightening though. It gives a fan a weird kind of pride that Nick has learned how to deal with his demons, and continues to better himself, and potentially help others along the way.
This book is both intriguing, and extremely hard to read. It's impossible to imagine your own reactions given the conditions the staff and patients had to survive in those five days, but also impossible to think you would make some of the same choices that were made. It brings up moral and ethical issues, and made me question the power and control that are given individuals over the right to life.
So excited that Kelley Armstrong has started a new series! And the book definitely lived up to my expectations.
This may not be autobiographical, but in the action version in my head, Lauren Graham was definitely playing the part of Franny Banks. Great first book. I hope there's more to come
Definitely a departure from her other works, but the characters are still as interesting and intricate in her writing as she's previously proven. A good way to resume a career post-Potter.
I wanted to write a glowing review of this book, but I find that I feel as if I will be digesting it, and learning from it for days, weeks, and even months to come. I've gained some perspective on a few things in my own life, and a rather substantial list of possible books to read from it, and I know that those are not the only contributions it's made to me.
A review would simply not do it any justice as every single person who reads this is bound to take something completely different from it, as it affects the differing aspects of their life.
Really interesting to read about the background relationships of Presidents and former Presidents and how those interactions shape incidents in the US.
The book itself, though really intriguing, was difficult to read technically.
I had trouble with this book. The story is good. I think. But I found the writing really awkward; redundant and repetitive in spots, and overly explanatory in others. It didn't seem to flow in any way, and none of the characters seemed to have their own voice. Sometimes it seemed the author had added extra phrases or expressions just to up the word count, or in an effort to explain something that needed no explanation. And there was an overuse of cliche expressions, to the point where I wanted to keep count in the text.
As I said, I liked the idea of the story; it could have been a fabulous novel. But sometimes a good story just isn't enough to make a good book.
Had to read the book after seeing the movie recently. Completely different ending. I like the book's better. Stumped as to why they'd change it.
I was hooked by page 25. Sincerely disappointed whenever real life interrupted my ability to read straight through.
