This is probably the cosiest book I've ever read.
I don't have much more to say about it.
I just loved the experience of reading it and will recommend it to both children and grown-ups.
The story was a little flatter than usual and a bit disjointed, but I did like the massive reveal at the end.
Looking forward to the next entry!
I loooved this book! It was the best of the series so far and got me really excited for the last book.
The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I couldn't stand Annabeth through this book. For a daughter of Athena she is beyond unreasonable and I just wanted to throttle her.
This book made me laugh and cry on every page.
It made me want to go out and run in the meadows (in the middle of dead cold winter), stare dreamily out my window, and enjoy peaceful tranquility.
Reading this book has been nothing but a sublime pleasure.
While I did enjoy the plot of this book and I found it super interesting, the writing style made it feel as though I was reading an overly long recap of the story. It put distance between me and the characters and I just couldn't enjoy the story as much.
I think it might be a personal thing though, so I would still recommend you give the book a try if you were wondering whether to read it.
3.5 ⭐️
This book was a very nice surprise.
I won't lie, I started reading it full of prejudice. Which was partially justified - the main female character was rather annoying at the beginning and I found the notion of her being the most notorious assassin utterly hilarious.
And while by the end I still didn't believe her to be the most notorious anything, she sort of grew on me.
Though the particular love situation utilised in this book (not to spoil it), in its nature, is something I detest, it was executed way better than in most young adult books I've read. The author knows how to write a slow burn and believable tension.
What I liked the most though, was the fantasy. The author has created a rich world and infused it with mystery. I am very curious to know more about it.
There were a few conveniences and a spot of cringe here and there. But overall, a very nice reading experience.
This book started as a random 3 star read. Then a twist early on raised it to 4 stars, all the way to chapter 32, when a single conversation between two characters made it 5 stars immediately.
This is your standard well written crime thriller, with your standard tough guy, who's determined, well trained and likes solitude. A few good twists. Very easy to digest writing style from an author, who seems to have done his research on the topic he writes about.
And then there's chapter 32, where we meet a whole new character - for like 3 pages. They talk and it barely has anything to do with the plot. But it was just so beautiful. It made me like this author, and the way he looks at the world so much.
A great first instalment. Made me excited for the rest of the series.
If you can find it in yourself to look past the outdated morals, this book is a masterpiece!
The writing style of the author and his ability to create atmosphere, as well as his infinitely relatable way of interpreting young people's though process had me feeling like I was there.
I adored this story. It was so cosy and cute. As well as a way for us to see the historical events from back in the day through the eyes of a little girl.
Yet another fantastic book from this fantastic author who simply knows my soul and writes stories that speak to it personally!
Anne is the heroine of my heart that makes me run through the meadows of my childhood once more and feel the golden beauty of this world as bright as I did back then.
i have no other words to describe my absolute love for these books and if I could, I'd live between those pages forever!
