Even though Sarah gave this a 2, Jimmie just absolutely insisted that I read it, so I figure I'll give it a try.
Definitely not my favorite by him, though the first that I've read of his with a female narrator. I would say Rash and Godless are MUCH better.
The winner of the 2011 Stonewall Award for LGBTQ YA fiction. Features a transgendered love interest for the male main character. Have heard some negative reactions to it, but I thought it was very realistically realized and well written. Will definitely recommend it.
Gee is super insistant that I read these because we recently watched both Hellboy movies and I liked them. While I respect the idea of graphic novels, I haven't ever found an interest in them myself. Maybe this will be different?
Verdict: Not at all like the movie but pretty interesting nontheless. I'm actually sort of interested in reading more of the series. Maybe selectively getting into graphic novels?
I love both authors, but I kept waiting for this book to get better. I enjoyed the new perspectives on male friendship and who can't help but love Tiny Cooper, but the 2 Will Graysons, I didn't love so much.
