Again, slow to start off but finally got some action and then I was hooked. Looking forward to the next one!
Alright, fine, it really did live up to the hype. And now I'm sad I have to wait for the second one.
I liked the plot and many of the characters, I think I just don't love this writing style? Idk, was kind of a slog at times for me to get through despite wanting to know what happened to Lyra and Iorek — I'll probably just watch the show now
Such a good read. A few moments of YA-why-are-they-suddenly-in-love-ness, but overall really captivating. Loved the Arthurian tie-ins, the magic, and especially the main character. Excited to read the next.
Cool premise, and I liked the swapping storylines. I wasn't super stoked on some of the endings but they weren't terrible either.
The first half felt kind of slow for me, took me a while to really get into it. Second half was fun and the ending made me want to keep going in the series.
It was a page turner, but ultimately not something I feel will be super memorable for me.
meh?
I'd heard a lot of good things about this, and it was just fine for me. There wasn't enough action or character building to really keep me interested. I dunno if I'll pick up the second at some point
I only have one Grishaverse book left and it's making me very sad because I love them.
It's been a while since I read the first book, but I remember liking it so much I was sad to wait on the sequel. WELP a bit of a disappointment there. Hardly anything happens in this book, just a lot of angst and pining and dumb decisions until finally we get some action in the last few chapters. It feels like so much could've been cut from this and likely condensed with whatever's going to happen next
I think I get in my own way sometimes — this book was a fun read, but I expected too much after a raving recommendation for it on TikTok. The twists weren't that twisty and I only really liked one of the characters.
I'm normally such a fan but this book was not it for me. I didn't like hearing about the predatory behavior and tbh I saw the twists happening from a mile away. Alas.
The first 3/4 of the book were kind of a slog. The pacing felt off and the dialog was making me cringe. It picked up at the end, but still just meh overall.
Not what I expected but definitely kept me interested and spooked me in a few parts. I think there are too many questions left unanswered for me to really love it, but it was a good read!
Enjoyable and I do want to keep reading the series to know what happens. A little cliche, and the exclamation points kept driving me crazy
