Super goed boek, zo bijzonder omschreven hoe twee mensen uit dezelfde omgeving, dezelfde familie, dezelfde achtergrond, zo anders komen te leven. En hoe ze daar mee om zijn gegaan.
De figuren zijn niet heel erg ver uitgewerkt, wat ik wel een gemis vind. Maar het hindert het verhaal en de verhaallijn ook niet.
Ijzersterk. Interessant om te zien hoe accuraat zijn representatie is van hoe de wereld eruit zou zien als de zogeheten pest zo zou heersen. Zeker nadat we “net uit” de Corona pandemie zijn. Wat hij verteld is letterlijk wat we zelf recent mee hebben gemaakt.
Niet mijn favoriete werk van Camus, vandaar de 4 sterren, maar blijft toch erg bijzonder.
Wat een mooi boek.
Een paar rare stukjes hier en daar en een aparte tweedeling, maar een goede schrijfstijl en een goed uitgewerkt verhaal.
Over vrouw zijn en worden, wat dat betekent, de patriarch, en het verlangen naar een kind. Zo mooi uitgewerkt, hoe elk figuur zo duidelijk een plek heeft in het verhaal en het geheel compleet maakt.

Great start, but when Addie meets Henry, everything became so predictable and unsurprising. Also, for the fact that Addie is 300 years old, she is so unaware of her social surroundings. Which is weird in her case. Really missing the amazing links that could have been made with the huge changes in history throughout those years.
Genuinely such a good memoir and it's so contemporary as well with the current world of tech and their growth. I feel like in the tech world morality and ethics fade away, and this memoir showcases and portrays that very well
Dit is toch wel een van de slechtste boeken die ik ooit heb gelezen. Cirkelredeneringen, foutieve interpretaties, conclusies zonder onderbouwing of erkenningen, en tot slot ja ja, mevrouw ontkracht alles wat ze eerder heeft geschreven aan het eind maar denkt dat ze een mooie conclusie neer zet.
Dit was echt een top boek, zo goed. Ben sowieso fan van Japanse literatuur en de manier hoe ze schrijven. Dit boek specifiek is een beetje geschreven alsof het een soort toneelstuk is, hier moet je een beetje doorheen kijken als je hier minder fan van bent.
Het verhaal en de samenhang van elk hoofdstuk is chef's kiss

Okay this book is MASSIVELY and INSANELY weird. Especially the beginning seems to be very chaotic and weird and the main character does the weirdest stuff like quitting her job at the art atelier and when she leaves she takes a crap on the floor next to the art?
She also seems like the most annoying person on the freaking planet and I really could not stand her as an individual but at the same time she is relatable on some levels? She is the worst friend to Reva that can't be hard to figure out in this book.
Easy to read, quite funny at some points and the ending (like the last three chapters) is key. It really causes everything to fall into place. Please don't let the first 1/3rd part of the book throw you off. ITS WORTH IT!!

Three women, three very different lives. Written in a very engaging way and has you in its grip. Which I can really appreciate.
Very insightful fiction/nonfiction book on how vulnerable sexual desires are and how the act of sex itself it also vulnerable. How it can be used and abused but also how and why it gives joy and pleasure. Absolutely loved it and the message is crystal clear throughout the entire book
Twee hele nachten door gehaald en ik heb het UIT. IK HEB HET UIT. Begon een beetje apart maar toen ik er eenmaal in zat kon ik het niet wegleggen. Om zo intens mee te gaan in de spanning, de angst en de gevoelens heb ik niet snel met een boek. Absolutely immaculate.
Niet te omschrijven hoe goed. Het marxisme is zo duidelijk te herkennen in Connell en Marianne. Knap hoe Rooney dat kan weergeven.
