Three things immediately caught my eyes: the acrylic paint on wood, the use of colors, and the use of space. A very pleasant book to read and admire! Concerning the narration, I liked it, but somehow I felt like something was missing. I still don't know what. Humor maybe? I still think it is a beautiful book, full of candor, about a shy canary who learns how to make friends. A book that teaches kids to explore outside of their comfort zone.

Cute characters but I feel tired of the endless bully who gets trapped and then rescued by the friendly main characters. It felt like I've heard this story over and over, and that this book doesn't bring anything new. I also didn't like that the writer perpetuates the motto ““words don't hurt””, as a way of protecting oneself from the bully's insults.
There is some positive teaching at the end of the book, as the bully learns to apologize and to explain that his behavior comes from a feeling of being left out.
The characters are very cute and I would love to read more stories from them.

Groundhog Day is a popular tradition celebrated in the USA and Canada on February 2. It derives from the Pennsylvania Dutch superstition that if a groundhog emerging from its burrow on this day sees a shadow due to clear weather, it will retreat to its den and winter will persist for six more weeks, and if it does not see its shadow because of cloudiness, spring will arrive early.
In the end, I appreciate the illustration, but I feel like it was scary to see the poor butterfly being carried awayby the tornad
