More 3.5 than 4. Very predictable story but entertaining. Pacing was hit or miss. I'll probably check out book 2 to see if the author has progressed.

I enjoyed his prose and the inner conflict of Thomas Covenant. His struggle with himself, his purpose, and reality was all very intriguing.

The drop from 4 to 3 stars was the central immoral event that Thomas commits. It stayed with me throughout the rest of the book, sickening me of his character.

I struggled with this book as it sat unread for months. Being a fantasy fan, the description and author had be very interested. Maybe I should resolve myself to being a modern fantasy fan, because I didn't like the way the book was written.

Brilliant

An emotional elevator ride where a child's past and present converge into the biggest decision of his life. Brilliant writing and word imagery create a work that will stay with me for a long time.

I feel like this is more of a discussion on how the author idealizes future society than a character-driven story. I'd have listened to the TED talk, but I can't recommend picking up this book.

Inspirational. Really makes you examine life, the precious time you have, and the precious people you are blessed to share it with.

I had a hard time connecting with the main character, which made her training very hard to get through. Interesting idea for a series just not for me.

This reads like an encyclopedia in a bad way. There isn't much interesting content in it. I won't be reading the other two shorts from Pottermore.

I really don't know why I struggled through this book. I tended to want to read other things instead of finish this one. I liked the story. Some parts were great, some parts were slow. I probably won't continue on with The Broken Earth series.

The details the author wanted to explain got in the way of the story. I didn't hate the book, just didn't enjoy it.

I don't know if I'm just losing interest in the Young Adult genre, but I could not wait for this book to end. I'm starting to equate Mare with Katness where I spend the whole book hoping she gets killed off. I will not be picking up any more in this series.

Brandon Sanderson has solidified his place as my favorite author. Every book I've read from him has not disappointed and this is the best one yet. I'm ready to spend the next 20 years reading Cosmere novels.

Not sure if something's lost in translation, but I definitely did not enjoy the writing in this book. The story was okay, but very predictable. Very simplistic plot and overall a book I just wanted to finish and forget. I don't think I'll be trying another Wuxia novel for a long time.

I could not get into his book. Although the setting was refreshing and fun, I did not care about the characters nor their goal.

This book lacked imagination and writing skill. It's as if the writer had an idea, but didn't know how to logically fit the pieces together. The characters all have a general lack of development which make them uninteresting. I will not read anything else from this author.

This book was good, but too hard to get through due to lack of punctuation and structure. Paragraphs are long run-on sentences with commas to break up talking between characters and narration.
