Not sure what to put on this one. I did enjoy it but it wasn't as emotional as I thought it would be. Possibly the writing felt a bit detached? Or perhaps that was on purpose to mirror Edward shutting himself off but if it was it didn't really work

Can't believe I'd never read a Georgette Heyer before. Felt a bit like reading a proper Austen albeit a bit easier to read.

The plot was super fun. Loved how much Beaumaris was living for the drama, I was absolutely cackling by the end

I enjoyed it but it never gripped me. I put it down in the middle of the main climax which is mad tbh. Possibly felt a bit too out there, which is weird because all Matt Haigs books are out there so idk what I was expecting.

Super twisty and fun. Couldn't put it down

This had its moments but ultimately I struggled with it. No speechmarks in a book with a lot of speech made it completely unintelligible at times. The writing style really didn't gel with me tbh

Started at 5pm after work. Finished at 11pm having not come up for air. Great evening 10/10 Stuart Turton really does write the most engaging stories

I don't know what it is about Emily Henry's romances but they really do hit different

My copy of the book has the tagline “can a life without luxuries be the richest of them all” and yet this man was drinking bottles of wine that cost more than my salary every night

It had its moments. I just wish it had more of them bc it was ultimately very boring

Super mediocre but in a bad way

The ending was phenomenal
I'm actually ok with the front half of the book being slower because it needed that to set it up
Even if I did have no idea what was going on for the first like quarter

I really liked Matthew and daisys relationship I just wish we got to see more of it!!! This was so padded out with other wallflower content (which I also love) but it did feel like Daisy really got the short stick. Just make it longer!!

Second half was good but first half was slow and the covid preaching really did get grating even though I get that it is in character
Ironic that I read this book when I had covid though

Very compelling but sometimes the style didn't quite work and the lack of quotation marks really got to me

Thank fuck these are over
We've really come full circle with this one right back to another Alex and Ava couple except this time it was so much longer
So unnecessarily long I literally could not tell you what happened in this book

Man this was bleak
I do like the idea of the story and seeing snow being pushed into evil by need and fear but the pacing is really off at times and a good chunk of this book was just boring

Not much of a twist and the ending was anticlimactic but the ride was fun and it was good to read something different to your average thriller

It was fun but it didn't really grip me
I think I would've enjoyed it a lot more if I read straight after SCC tbh because I'd forgotten a lot of it

The first half of this was pretty good but then the painting plot was absolutely bonkers. Ana Huang cannot write thriller plots to save her life.

Also really really not a fan of the dubcon scene, so unnecessary

Very detached writing but a fun little puzzle. Might have 5 stars it if the puzzle was actually solvable lmao

It was ok. Marriage of convenience tropes aren't really my vibe.

Also I feel like Kleypas really had to give St. Vincent a full personality transplant to make up from the last book lol. It sort of worked? But it still felt dubious

A lot of the reviews say this one is overhyped and I guess it kind of is? Not the best book I've ever read but also I did really enjoy it. I think my main complaint is it could've gone a bit deeper
