the reveal was underwhelming and not that surprising but i enjoyed the journey, the audiobook and the characters so im rounding up to 4 stars just for the experience
i like the idea behind the story and the way it was told/written but this is hardly a horror in my opinion and also after i realized what was going on i was kinda just like oh okay. cool. its an interesting read and a unique one for sure but thats kinda it for me
this was quite similar to grown ups by marie aubert (but I liked it more than this one). part 1 was so good I was invested in the drama of it all but part 2 was a slog and the ending just went nowhere.
this book talks abt a serious and important issue that happens to alot of people but idk it wasnt surprising or shocking and didnt say anything new? it was a pretty basic story about an abusive family but it didnt really say much more than that so its not anything groundbreaking or 5 star worth to me. i still think its good and people should read it but yeah
this was fine but I think the length killed my enjoyment. loved the small town atmosphere and snooping around but it dragged a bit and when the reveal came I was just like okay
i'm finally freed from this boring book. on paper i should love it coz i loved normal people but I didnt care abt anything or anyone, nothing happend in this and everyone was annoying. gave it 2 stars just bc it had alot of sentences and thoughts I annotated and found relateable but it still wasnt enough to save this book.
kinda fell apart after the 60% mark but the ending was good again. i wanna be her friend so bad
this fr wasnt as bad as people made it out to be lol. it was pretty average for me personally, i listened to the whole thing on audio omw to work for like 2 weeks and i had fun. i could not stand the main character tho, she read like a “not like other girls” girl with the whole old movies refrences every 2 pages and it was very annoying. she also made dumb decisions multiple times but i just dont care that much, i didnt take the book too seriously from the start so maybe dats why i dont hate it as much.
Book was great, i love the main characters and the queer rep. The second half was alot better than the first one and the book lost me a bit in the middle, but at the end of the day i really cared for what is happening to the characters and how things are going to end up. Im happy with the ending but i wish we had more of Devon and Chiamaka being happy with their partners and in work coz that part was very sweet.
3.5
really enjoyed most of it bc it had strong penpal vibes but the ending was meh and I wanted more
emily henry i love you so much. this was so good!!!!!!!!! i love alex and poppy and all the tropes and their dynamic. she wrote this for me only i think
2.5
this makes me so sad. thought i would love this book but it put me into a huge slump and took me way too long to read. i love the characters and all the funny stuff between the friends and delilah but the romance just did not hit me like it should. i found myself not caring abt anything after the 50% mark, nothing really happend and it was a bit boring :/
4.5
this was SO GOOD. it reminded me alot of liane moriarty books, but better!!!! i liked the characters and the way the story was told, the final conclusion surprised me coz i didnt see it coming at all and the overall ending made me sad, almost teary eyed. also love how the lesbian couple just exists in this book and isn't there for the sake of education or brownie points!!! im so glad i finally got around to reading this book
3.5 but i feel generous today so rounding up to 4
wish I read this faster than in a week but job ruins my life so I couldn't, I think this should be read in a day or two. it was fun even tho I hate survival stories in a book form but this just worked idk. also this is literally man or bear discourse in a book and I'd still choose the bear/creature bc what the hell
2.5
the middle part of this book was soo good, esp part 2 but the beginning and end were a SLOG to get thru and I just didn't care abt anything. ive read better and more interesting books with such topics
i really enjoyed this book, the themes it has and all the characters!!! it was well written, funny and cute. it got a bit too cheesy for my liking by the end and i dont really feel Carter that much, hence the 4 stars but everything else was great :) also im in love with Olivia and i wish i had a friend like her, shes def my fav character
oh also the whole plot with her grandma made me tear up and i could understand how she felt with everything, so it was a bit hard to read at times, but i appreciate it alot.
i enjoyed the book so much until the plot twist reveal being something i predicted and thought is very obvious from the start ??? the whole book i was waiting for something i already know and it made me annoyed but cant give it less stars coz i did enjoy the book up until then i guess.
+ also i did not like the use of racism and ableism as a plot twist, that was a weird and unnecessary choice so im lowering it to 2 stars upon thinking more abt this
it was just fine, like the previous volumes. this series is too corny for me but I'm 5 volumes deep so might as well finish
2.5 stars
I feel like I've read this book multiple times before, it's nothing new or exciting; it did have a lot of nice sentences and I did relate to some of her struggles. I know she's suppose to be unlikeable but I feel like it doesn't bring anything to the book other than to annoy or “shock” lol
after months of thinking abt this book and watching the movie i realized i hate this story
