Good story. Suspenseful. Plot moves along well. Good twists. Expect a movie version. http://www.wordandfilm.com/2012/03/alex-holmes-attached-to-pen-the-expats-adaptation/
A decent book with lots of interesting anecdotes on good and bad aspects of habit. I thought the organizational habit section was the strongest and most interesting.
Its zombies in NYC. How can that be bad? Well...as it turns out, it can be. Very very slow. The story of an everyman survivor named Mark Spitz after the zombie plague. Mark Spitz was hard to care about. Not good. Did manage to get all the way to the end. But barely. I felt like I was reading Wuthering Heights, in that I wanted everyone to just die by the end of the novel.
Enjoyable followup to “The Magicians”. Not actually necessary to read first book if you just want to read this one which I thought was the more enjoyable of the two. Interwoven timeline works well as the flashbacks give you insight into current plot. Well written fantasy novel. I'm not a huge fantasy novel fan but this was good.
A wonderful novel that interweaves stories of various characters over decades with remarkable ease. Definitely one of the best books that I've read this year.
Another Harry Bosch story. I always enjoy these. Not too many of these books left as Harry approaches retirement.
Nice novel and interesting version of apocalyptic literature. In this case the apocalyptic event is an instantaneous disappearing that leaves nothing to battle against but the loss itself. The novel is the stories of how various people in a small town cope with the sudden disappearances of a whole set of people from their lives. Sudden, arbitrary and unexplainable loss of parts of a community force people to wrestle with how to go on with their lives and question whether the life they are living is what they really want.
Wonderful intricate and definitely grisly detective novel. Fast paced and including some interesting twists.
Well written thriller and detective story that uses interesting media, graphics and web sites to enhance the story. Definitely enjoyable book.
