Wowo just wow!!!
I think this has to be the most hard hitting impactful Dresden Files book I have read thus far.
Harry finding out he has a daughter with his half vampire ex girlfriend and that his daughter is now being used as a human blood sacrifice to create a blood curse on Harry and his family.
2 moments that just stand out. When Harry meets his daughter for the first time is heartbreaking
And then when he must make a sacrifice to save his daughter commiting an act of murder he never thought he could be capable of is just wow!!
Harry trades everything for the child he never knew he had.
And the ending. Just seriously WTF!! I don't know whether to laugh, cry, be angry, scream.....
I mean seriously how does Jim Butcher get away with that kind of ending!! But the fact that this book has left me with emotional trauma at the hands of a paperback I suppose means Jim did a damn good job writing to illecit such a response from me but still Damn you Jim for doing this to me. I love it but at the same time I hate it!! Good job!
This is the 3rd book in Larry Nivens Ringworld series, also known as the known space series
As a award winning book I was hoping this series overall was going to be something I would have enjoyed, after all I am a science fiction and fantasy fan however this series thus far has disappointed me
I found this book hard to get into, with characters that I just struggle to really care about. the plot seems to be a bit disorganized, the flow being somewhat lacking. Perhaps it was the fact that it failed to keep my interest that I just did not care to much to pay attention to what I was reading
The concepts of the book and series as a whole are really good, The idea of a mysterious ring world built around a star, inhabited by many different species of hominids as a backdrop to explore different ideas concerning humanity and evolution etc... however it just failed to really do anything for me
The plot basically follows Vallavirgillin who is gathering a group of hominids to fight the vampires, meanwhile Louis and the hind most, aka puppeteer seek to save the ringworld from what is supposed to be some kind of invading force from outside but I did not feel that materialized well. Much of the plot around Louis was all about the protectors and what they are doing trying to control and rule the ring world.
by biggest problem with this book is the way it changed subjects almost add style, one minute we are talking about the vampire threat, then suddenly its to rithshara (aka sex) then back to the protectors back to sex, then back to outside threat back to sex,
There seems to be a obsession with sex between different species, you meet someone the first thing you ask is “how do you have sex can you have sex?” I just found that this really broke the story flow and you could take every mention of sex or “rithshara” out of it and not change a single thing about the story in any way.
I guess in the end Larry Niven writing style just does not work for me and I find I am not enjoying it but you may very well enjoy, 2 stars simply because i did not like it, not that i would tell you not to read it
This will likely be the last Larry Niven book I read. Not because this one is terrible but because overall Ringworld is just not that great of a series.
Essentially in this book outside invaders are coming to the ringworld to obtain its tech and in a war for the world and its up to louis Wu and the protectors to avert disaster.
I gave this a 3 star review mainly because it seriously lightened up on rithshara (interspecies sex) which honestly made the story telling better by that fact alone. Which tells you something about how bad it is when simply removing something improves the story .
On the whole I don't think the story is bad as far as a story goes, i just don't think Larry Niven is all that great a writer overall.
I still don't care that much about the characters and in the end its meh.
Action packed from start to finish this is a great installment in the legacy of the force star wars book series.
Jedi embark on a 3 fold mission. Ending jacen solos reign, rescue of alana solo and destruction of the dreaded centrepoint station.
Everyone is filled with fury as this book is aptly named and well done. I really enjoyed it
This is the final book in the Codex Alera series by Jim butcher. I certainly enjoyed it and its a good read and series overall.
While I dont have much to say about the book or series as a whole, if you like elemental magic system, non-human fantasy people, and some dark elements along with lots of action then you will probably like this series as a whole.

This was a fun one. The unseen university is forming a football (aka soccer team) to take on the other soccer teams in the city of akh morpork, however while that is the central plot device the book is not really about that all
I found that this book really was more about finding value in ourselves and not getting hung up on the way we were born or created. It challenges the idea that stereotypes are reality and that we we can find value in our selves.
One of the main characters, MR Nutt is a orc, and discovers this about himself and has beceome overwhelmed with finding value within himself despite societal pressure to view him with the stereotype of his race.
Juliet another character also embarks on a bit of self discovery as a fashion model and love interest of another character.
All in all this is a great read

This book has been praised and given awards as a classic in science fiction writing. I had heard a lot about it and because of that I wanted to give it a try.
The basic premise is that 2 aliens, Nessus who is called a puppeteer, Talks with animals who is a member of a warrior species and 2 humans. 1 man and 1 woman embark on a voyage to investigate a mysterious ring world around a star. Crashing on the surface they embark on a exploration to try to not only survive but find a way to repair their ship and return back home.
First off I love the premise, I think its a really good idea and that has a lot of potential. Having people from 3 very different cultures work together to survive, often at odds with on another is in itself a great foundation for any story.
However I feel that I am being generous with a 3 star rating mainly because I did not think it was terrible story but it was not that great, I found the characters to be a bit flat and did not care all that much for them. It really was a plot driven story not not much for characters or character development.
The one female character Teela only purpose was for sex and good luck. The idea of luck being bred for in the human race was not only ridiculous but non sensical in a story that is supposed to be a serious scifi story and just did not do it for me.
overall I enjoyed the concept, the general plot was good but the story execution was not, so generous 3/5 stars for me
I am going to read the other books because I have them and hopefully it gets better
Great read. Focus on princess Ciri with a touch of enviromentalism and social justices concerning the evles
Overall good really liked it. I published a review on my youtube channel so check it out drews book reviews
This book was sent to me bu the author for a review
Honestly I loved this read. Really my only complaint is that it is not long enough. Gods, dragons, priests, mysticism, myth, magic and legends all wrapped up in a mid evil historical england setting.
Well paced and entertaining read that I really enjoyed from start to finish.
At no point did I find myself bored, as it kept my interest all the way through.
My personal fav character is Morgana and of course Gurzil. This the the 1st book in a series and and I am lookong forward to the next book.
I loved this book. If you are a Star Trek fan this is a must read for you. Written by Brent Spiner of LT Commander Data fame this is his Mem-Noir inspired by true events
Brent Spiner tells us the tale of a mid tier hollywood celebrity that finds himself being stalked and harrassed by a crazy fan and has to get the FBI involved. With a full cast of characters and Star Trek favs such as Michael Dorn (LT Worf), Jonahthan Frakes (Commader Riker), Patrick Stewart (Captain Picard), Marina Sirtis (Counsellr Troy), Gates Mcfadden (Dr Crusher) and of course Mr Gene Rodenberry creator of Star Trek
This is not only a entertaining read into the life of a celebrity but a funny hilarious book that had me laughing all through the book! a must Read 5 star easily

Gardens of the moon by Steven Erickson
I picked up this book as part of the Read along on Mike's book review YouTube channel and likely never would have gotten around to it if not for that.
Many People have found this book at least to be confusing and difficult to follow the story line. I will say that I can understand why that is the case. While I did not find it too difficult to follow there are a lot of characters to follow so keeping track of who is doing what can get confusing at times.
This is a world at war with the malazan Empire and one city (Darikjostam) is left for the Malazan empire to conquer and only one stands in his way Lord of the moon's spawn Anomander Rake
It seems however the Gods are also getting involved in the war as well and have their own plans and agendas
The magic system is pretty basic, sorcerers, allomancers, sorceresses etc.. and I found the world of Malazn to have a very dark shadowy feel which I love! The Shadow hounds particularly peaked my interest and I have no doubt that they will make an appearance in other novels of this series as well
My only real nitpick is the Jaghut Tyrant. The payoff for this characters story arc was not really there in terms of the set up for me, lest I get into spoilers I will leave it at that
I will have a full video review on my YouTube channel in the next few days https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkUMtTLktLQ9BrbI0LRJVdg so check that out if you want
This book is all about the search for a theory of everything. I was not expeting to like this one to a 5 star rating based on previous books I have read by Michio Kaku, but this one was actually really really good
The history and evolution of physics and the search for the ultimate theory to explaine everything really was a good and entertaining read
I especially enjoyed learning about Edgar Allen Poe and his role in helping to answer some fundelmental questions of physics in his day despite not being a scientist but a amature astromer and author. You will have to read the book to find out what that is
Dawnshard book 3.5 of the storm light archive. I love this book!!
Dawnshard follows Rysin, a disable character who has lost the use of her legs. She takes a comissiom from the queen to sail to a mysterious island hidden from the world behind a storm that has been raging forever
She is joined by the Lopen and Cord, wind runners to investigate and discover the mystery of these islands. And of course the Dawnshard is part of the mystery as the title suggest.
However the gods who do not sleep will stop at nothing to prevent them from discovering the secret of the islands
All around great read especially if you are a cosmere fan. You can find a more detailed review on my YouTube channel.
I loved getting to know Rysin more as previously only introduced in a interlude from previous books. I feel that Sanderson did a great job portraying the thoughts and feelings of someone from a disabled perspective
Lopen also gets some good character development that I really enjoyed.
Many hints are dropped of things to come “the cosmere is at stake” metals and their effects, allomany maybe? This book is like a trailer for rythim of war
I love this book. Andy weir has a way of combing humor with life and death and hard scifi. this book had me laughing at so many places i maybe should not have been laughing at, and realyl in situations i would be terrified to find myself in perosnally
What happens when you combine star eating microscopic life with aliens and the eventual death of humanity, well this book is that story and was a fantastic read and highly recommended

I tend to get a bit OCD when it comes to #dnf a book and have a really hard time doing so.
This book is testing the limits of that for me. Dr. Lanza seems to be taking the position that life created the universe by simply percieving its existence, and does so using #quantumphysics principles such as superposition and particles appearing once measured
In addition to that he uses the common religious apologist argument of #finetuning combined with out of context quotes from physicst like einstein, bohr, planck, shrodinger as an appeal to authority all in a effort to support his conclusion without any actual evidence.
He is trying to sell his philisophical position as science and has even brought in metaphyisics into his arguments and treating it as legit science rather than the abstract concepts it is
I am only halfway through but 1 star for me
This is the 3rd book in the of Blood and Bone series by John Gwynne and I have to say this was a fantastic fast paced intense read
This whole series is just awesome, politics, religion, angels and demons, battle bears, warriors, giants, twisted demonic creatures and creations all fighting in a war for supremency.
This final book in the series does not stop with the action with just the right amount of down time between moments of intense action and great characters and just crazy fun all around.

The Final conlcusion to the Shannara Chronicles follows Drisker Arc, Grianne omhsford in the forbidding, a demonic world which is also a prison a swell as Tarsha the last of the Druids.
I loved this final book in the Shannara world and it does make for a amazing conclusion to the Shannara world of Terrybrooks.
I have read all of shannarra at this point now that I have read this one. The characters are ones you really come to love and want to succeed. This is a world that is post apocalypic world that is similar to our own in alot of ways but of course wtih Elves and Dwarves.
I do love a good post apocalypic story line. Magic, intrigue, politics. this series as a whole has it all
my only complaint is that the ending was left too open and I know that there wont be any more in the shannara world. Tarsha is faced with a descion but we dont find out what the descion is and it just leaves us hanging!!!! why Terry are you doing this to us!!!!

I had heard a lot of praise for this book. I found that some of it is deserved but the book also fell flat for me in some ways.
Some characters such as william hamleigh we flat 2 dimensional characters that did not show any growth or development while others like Aliena were written well and showed development.
I found the story to be very cyclical and repetitive in many ways and while each new problem was different it was a constant build a church, something gets in the way, build some more, something stops them etc
So for me it loses some points for repetitive writing and flat characters it wins points for the good characters and their individual stories.
There was good opportunity to wrap things up probably 200 pages before the end of the book but I felt follet failed to do so.
So it was ok. Not terrible but not great. To be honest I am split 50/50 I have certainly read worse books but I have also read much better.
One hell of a funny book that gives a new perspective on some of the most taboo subjects.
I had heard mixed reviews on this and was pleasantly surprised as I have not read Eragon and have never really wanted to.
This is a scifi story if you couldnt tell by the title and coverl ol, the 1st one I believe Paolini has written and set in what has been termed the fractalverse.
What I liked: the tech in these books had a interesting twist on the idea of warp drive an use of cyrogenic sleep and human mind brain interfaces. So all your classic scifi tech from ship minds to bio implants.
The ship minds created a interesting and honestly fun character to interact with gregory the wallfish ship mind.
I did not find this book big on character development, this is not to say it had none, there certainly was some character development but i found that this was more a plot driven book which in and of itself is not a bad thing just my feelings on the how the book is written. i would say a 60/40 split between character development and plot with plot being 60%
The softblade xeno i really like how that brough our main character Kira, into there journey to becoming something truly unique and new. this being the trigger for the greater conflict within this story overall and also playing a key role in the ending leaving this open to more fractal verse books in the future which i would be open to reading.
This book really has a found family trope which TBH Is one of my favorite tropes and worked well in this story
What I didnt like, the soft blade seems too powerful in a few ways to, virtualling making its user/wearer/partner etc.. virtually invinceable which at some scenes felt that there is no way anyone could have survived that a re-write on said scenes to be more survivable or rather less unsurvivable imho would have made it better.
not sure how i feel about the idea of the aliens in this book communicating by scent, while its not impossible, and aliens certainly will and likely do communicate via means that would be foreign to us, for narrative purposes i feel like it would just work better for these aliens to have a spoken language, maybe a nitpick but i just think from a narrative perspective it just works better.
overall a good read and i look forward furture reads in the fractalverse

Too long but good.
Lots happening. Gods. War, burning cities and overall alot happenning but also a long read. At times struggled to keep my attention but overall enjoyed the read
After reading the Handmaids Tale I wanted to read more Margarte Atwood. The premise of this book intrigued me.
This is a world that is post apocalyptic world after Genetic Enginerring companies have unleased a plague that destroys humanity.
This book has been described as a love story but I would not described as such. While our main character who goes by snowman does in fact have a love interest that is not really the point of the story as a whole.
Much of the book is backstory describing events that lead up to our main characters current place in the story so I found there was not alot of actual plot progression, but despite that the narrative was for me very compelling and a read that would just not let go leaving me anxious to get back to where I was in the story.
This book does contain trigger warnings for some highly controversial and senstive content relating to child sex slavery.

This is the first Robin Hobb book I have had the pleasure of reading and I will say that I did enjoy it overall as my introduction to Robin Hobb's writing.
I had been hearing so much about Realm of the Elderings and Robin Hobb on booktube and to be honest I did not feel this lived up the hype, I was expecting a 5 star read, that is not to say it s a bad book by any means
Assassins apprentice focuses alot of our main characters Fitz and his progression you can call it of being passed around to different teachers to learn a variety of different things and skill sets, that is the bulk of the story so far. There are still 2 more books in this trilogy yet, so I am expecting it will just get better as we go along. But given that the actual plot progression was not athe bulk of the story itself
As for the writing style itself it is taken from a 1st person narraitve which I do admit I enjoy that as that way of writing in a way makes you the character whose viewpoint is coming through. I find that this helps to have empathy for the character and more invested in the story overall.
I will be honest in that I did not like how Fitz being an assasin was not hidden well in the respective courts. It was too obvious in that everyone seemed to know he was an assassin there to assisnate a paticular person. which seemed kind of backwards vs someone being discovered.
The Magic system is subtle in this story, With skilling and forging seeming to be the main types of magci, but will be honest after this first book I am still not really sure of what those are exactly. All I can really say is skilling has something to do with telepathic communication and forging is a bad thing, but never really explained. I find I enjoy a book better when by the time you finish reading the 1st book you have a clear and good understanding of the magic system and how it works which I did not find with this one. But am hopeful that future books will further develop that understanding, I for sure want to keep reading this series
overall 3.5/5 stars for me, with the anticiaption that it will get better

I just finished this book, it is the 2nd book in liveship trilogy by Robin Hobb
one thing that has been driving me a bit crazy in this seriesl lol, is the "one who remembers" plot line with the serpents. It has felt that there is no purpose to it has felt like filler for the series until close to the end of this book in which we get more context of what and how it is all coming together, and its about time! lol
Malta is certainly taking a bigger role along with the mad ship in this book as the plot thickens so to speak, over all a great read and an amazing series. I am actually starting to like paragon lol

This is the 2nd Robin Hobb book series I have started and honestly I have to say I like it better than the Farseer trilogy. As I understand this book takes place in the same world as Farseer
I love the idea of these live ship traders and their live ships being sentient beings with a magical connection to their families. The idea of a ship having feelings, intellect, ability to go mad, have mental illness but also be uniquily tied to or bonded to their families is just a really awesome idea
One thing I will say is that the one character Kyle, I can't stand that guy and honestly if one can hate a fictional character I do hate this guy lol, but for me that is a sign of good writing if a author can make you hate or love a character as Robin Hobb has done here.
Althea's plight is one I just wanted to keep getting back to as well as Wintrow and how they deal with things and overcome their trials and struggles, however the side plot with Malta is not something I cared a whole lot for, but also can't help but wonder if this side plot will come to have more importance in future books, which I get the feeling it might
