read for the tarot readathon 2023: ten of pentacles &read for the 24 hour horrorathon group book (june)
this was such a good horror novella! i loved the fucked up family dynamics because even if we haven't experienced something this extreme, most people can relate to this in parts. i so wish this pushed the envelope a bit more and really leaned into that darkness.
read for the tarot readathon 2023: the hierophant
this literally talks about so many things black women face and how that compares to other women of different races and also black men. this was so beautifully told and it felt so good to feel understood but it wasn't afraid to be harsh either. 11/10 recommedn for everybody whether you are a black woman or not
read for the tarot readathon 2023: the tower
i really lovees this story and even though it is a slower drama, i really resonate with the themes and the writing. ashley audrain truly knows how to keep me engaged. i do think there were too many perspectives and if there were less this would have been a full 5 star.
read for the tarot readathon 2023: seven of wands
this is my least fav from t.j. klune but it's still a good books. i feel like the forumla is just becoming a bit repetitive but i liked the characters and the writing still ate down. this also had an adventous aspect to it which was not my fav because that's not why i read a tj klune.
read for the tarot readathon 2023: queen of wands
i had a great time reading this and i absolutely loved the themes of isolation and anger throughout the story. the write was so lyrical and dreamlike but also dense for such a short book. i enjoyed the descriptions of the ocean and birth throughout the story and thought it was done so well. i love a fever dream horror so much but this wasn't necessarily fever dreamy but more just disjointed which left me confused and not in a cute way. but i would still highly recommend this story if this seems like the type of story you are looking for
read for the tarot readathon 2023: ten of wandsweekly significator (the emperor)
this was so creepy and had so many messed up family things. i loved the writing and the imagery. the themes were phenomal and for a ya it didn't feel juvenile at all. but it felt like this cut off so abruptly at the end and not in just an ambiguous way but in an unfinished way
read for the tarot readathon 2023: king of swords
okay this book did not take use of the setting and this genuinely could have been in space or any another isolated setting which defeats the point. the ending was stupid. i enjoyed the exploration of trauma but it was trying to do that, be paranormal, have a plague, and be under the ocean. something was going to be underdeveloped and it was almost every aspect.
