i love megan goldin's writing because it's so compusivly readable and she has great charatcer development. i just was not as interested in the plot as i originally thought i would be

shawn andre ATE DOWN. s.a. cosby write a karin slaughter plot? nothing could be better literally
i loved how dark this story was and i love mermaids so it was a perfect combination. the ending was so satisfying and the prose was amazing but a little dense.

this was such a fun horror slasher! i do think it was a long, a bit silly, and i wasn't a huge fan of the extra large cast of characters but the horror in this was chefs kiss and some of these scenes and descriptions will stay with me
i really enjoyed the premise and the two main characters a lot. i love single parent romances so much. this was a bit long and i didn't really enjoy the conflict for a romance, but i had so much reading this

this is one of those books that you can think about forever and never have true answers. this was fantastical but the horrifying nature of this story was so enticing. and eric larocca always has the absolute best writing and something about the way he writes just digs it's way into my soul.
actual rating: 3.5/5 stars
i loved the end and the twists within this book and holly jackson always has great writing but i just don't think this is necessarily my type of thriller. i still appreciated the ride but it wasn't a fav like her other series.
i literally love everything eric larocca writes. this has become one of my favs from them and it was just so freaking good. Even though some of the stories are only 10ish pages, they all back such a punch and i just am left awed every single time.

kennedy would never deliver anything bad. this was super cute and swoony but i wish it was longerrrrrrrrr
loved this collection! the average of the stories together was a 4.5 but there were some standouts and some that weren't my fav from eric but eric knows how to do a collection.

literally so cute and cozy and as a former barista, this gave everything i liked about being a barista and didn't have all the things i hated

this was such a good horror novella! i loved the fucked up family dynamics because even if we haven't experienced something this extreme, most people can relate to this in parts. i so wish this pushed the envelope a bit more and really leaned into that darkness.
i didn't hate this at all because it was so short but it really felt like king really took a whole bunch of shit and just mixed it together for fun. this shoulda stayed in the drafts stephen

this was cute and i loved the smut but out of all of tessa's work this feels like the least fav, and i wasn't really a fan of the characters or their relationship, which is kinda necessary for me for a romance.
while this wasn't very horror filled, i enjoyed seeing a realistic adult coming of age story
i'm so disappointed i didn't love this one because i love suffer the children by craig dilouie and it was one of my most anticipated of the year. this was super slow and long for no reason. you would think it would be slow to gradually build tension to the explosive ending but there was no tension just boredom. i loved the format of this book and how it translated to an audiobook. the audiobook is over the top but i enjoyed it. the ending is what saved this for me tho. it was a phenomenal ending and giving along the lines of as above so below but everything else was boring asl.
actual rating: 3.5/5
this was a good first installment but i' interested to see where it goes. i don't normally read comics because they're so short and i'm impatient lol so i wait for bind-ups. the shortness is why this hasn't been my favorite because i don't know much yet.

i really enjoyed the writing of this book and the story. the way it combines sci-fi and paranormal elements to make a story that is interesting, unique, and important. i love sci-fi thrillers/horror so much and i also love paranormal elements but i think this takes an impressive amount of skill to ciming them into a seamless story. But i simply was super uncomfy that the main character presents as a child and has sexual relations with adults. ik that it's meant to have a purpose but i have to take off a star for it.
i can definitely see why this book is so popular this year and i think a lot of people will resonate or empathize with our main character's story heavily. i personally did not feel very emotionally impacted by this story and have other books that cover similar themes that impacted me more but i think this is a overall solid read.
