I'm a little disturbed by how much I can relate to Raskolnikov's incessant inner dialogue.
Listened to this audiobook last month while working on big knitting project. Hope Davis is excellent and really brings the story to life. Loved it.
Very quick read. It was a little far-fetched to believe that these two girls from a small southern town made it to Hollywood and had real acting careers – one as a big star and one as a working actress in commericials and movies of the week. I enjoyed reading about L.A. because I miss it there, but it was definitely a myopic view of what L.A. is like although for actors in Hollywood (which comprise a small part of L.A. population) I think it was spot on.
Really amazing writing. The story jumps around in time, which I usually find to be a style I don't like. But in this book, it is interesting and creates a feeling of putting together a puzzle which you finally solve at the end.
Long book, but I loved it.
2020: Audible version: amazingly done. Adding a star.I love this book.
I waited to read this book until I could share it with Owen. We finally read it last week and it was fantastic. He loved it so much and kept begging me to keep going, which I was happy to oblige. We had a marathon reading session and finished it in 24 hours. I love witnessing his enjoyment of fiction. The story was so great, a perfect measure of fun, silly and scary. I'm so glad I waited to read this with my kid.
Edited October 2016. Re-read with Owen and Zoe, illustrated edition. Even more wonderful.
Listened to the audiobook on a long drive. Wil Wheaton is fantastic narrating this futuristic tribute to the 1980s.
